Now for the bad day report

Okay, so my plan was (remember what I said about plans?) to park at the trolley station and take the trolley or bus to the courthouse to see what happens with Devon.

I got to the station late and therefore missed my bus that would get me there early. Next bus was due in a half hour. Seeing as how there were at least 17 other people in his time slot, I still had a chance to see him and get news.
Bus came, I got on... it turned the wrong way. Away from downtown. I told the driver I just saw the number and he was ticked off at me for having to drop me off at a corner. It was only 20 after the hour so maybe I did get on the wrong bus. Fast walked and partly ran to catch the next bus sitting in the slot, right number and hopped on. Out of breath and frustrated to tears I sat down.
This bus turned the same direction!  I went up to the front of the bus and said that I thought it was going downtown. The driver (nice lady) said no... I told her the previous driver said he was going to La Jolla and not downtown. She gave me a very odd and disturbed look and even one of the passengers chimed in saying someone was confused. I had to get off that bus, closer than the previous one, and walked back to the station and said screw it and got in my car to drive downtown. Taking a chance with parking and my tags being expired last month. (Don't go there...)
So, here it is, nine am, and the time listed was for eight fifteen. Maybe I would be lucky and they hadn't started yet. All the Ace parking lots are rediculously high for parking downtown because they can ($16!!!! hellno!) in tears I backed out of the lot and took my chances. Luckily I found a metered spot and had enough for an hour and twelve minutes. Forgot to mark the time it was in my head and fast walked to the court house.
There are two court houses and luckily I got the number of his room and went to the right building.
I forgot to leave both my scissors and my small flat knife in the car. The guard said I would have to leave it outside.
Outside. Where!!!!??? There's people out there with their own business, planters and plenty of sidewalk. Just where does he expect me to leave it? Frustrated again, I just dropped the two items in the corner of a planter and figured no one would notice. (I do know human nature somewhat)
Went back inside, upstairs to the third floor and found the hallway where tons of people were waiting for their whoevers to be seen.
And I waited. Right by the door. There are signs in the windows saying that no one is allowed in until court is in session, blah blah... luckily the sign in one window was leaning out a bit so you could peak in.
I looked at the listings for Devon and he was like 23A so there was likely a long wait. I finally got anxious, not knowing how all this works and asked one lady as she went back in if she could find out my sons public defender. Gave her his name and she came back out rather quickly and told me. Yay. Some info at least. She also said she would be here momentarily.
Well, she did show up with an assistant apparently and when I asked if she was ..... (name not important) she said yes and I said Devon Sallume was my son. She said 'Great!' and hustled inside.
Um... okay.
Wait some more. Her assistant came out and talked with another client down the hall, other court rooms were opened up so the hallway was rapidly emptying. When he came back I told him who I was and asked what was happening today.
Basically it was a plea bargain session. Devon has no priors so that's in his favor, but he didn't have any other details and said to hang on he would go inside and see.
He came out with no more news, the lady was talking to the judge about someone else or something. I handed him one of my business cards with my phone number and email and told him I had to leave early, please give me a call. He had lunch after the current session and I told him I would be available after 2. I should have told him I was available between 11 and 1. Oh well, I was trying to hold on to what composure I could muster at the time.
So... that's more news about him than we've had in two weeks. I'm hoping that they both let him know that I had been there or that he sees my card. It's important to me that he knows I was there.
I got back to my car with five minutes to spare but I was out of quarters and had to leave. I had counted on using five dollars for the bus, but not quarters for a meter.
When I was turning a corner trying to find a spot I saw a corrections department bus and started crying. He likely came in on one of those hours ago and was in a holding area right now.
I'm not doing as well as I should right now. I had a horrific gall bladder session last night between 2 and 4 so I'm kind of low on energy and hungry.
I just put time on my phone to make sure calls get through.

I hate dealing with the legal system. (Repeat this as many times as you like to get the idea of how much.)
Okay, now to get some food, easily digestible and remember to take my metal jewelry off before going to my appointment.

Love to all! Thank you for your support!

Hey Pat,
Marie's son did a search today for Devin. He's not in the jail system any more. Other than that, no info he could find on him. A halfway house seems likely the next place he could be. Or, maybe he plea bargained for a misdemeanor pot possession. Time served, he's out. He's fine Pat, you'll find him, get the story, and press on from there. On to your health issues, what's next on your medical schedule? I'll check yer previous posts to get refreshed on your medical needs.
Quick side note, Marie and I are moving into a house I'm buying with my VA loan. We move in no later that Sept. 1st, long story, no time.
Be at peace, my sister. May all the blessings of calm and joy be yours.
Love ya, Bart
