Another 'Job' (biblical) situation.

I was feeling the urge to do some writing again. Specifically to pick up where I had left off in a story set in the Babylon 5 universe. A story about a female Ranger and her quest for satisfaction and purpose.
I just discovered with a sickening feeling that it was stored on a USB drive that was in my purse that was stolen last year.
Gone.
All of it. Three or four years worth of story notes, character bits, vignettes and timeline is gone.
Since the original notes would have been on my old computer, and the entirety of the contents were transferred over to this computer... and it isn't there... I can only surmise that it is gone.
I think I have some of my original notes in two black and white composition books, and a good portion of the story in my head still. The character personalities and such are still there, but the moments, the small bits of creative genius that only happen in fits and spurts that make it good... gone.

This is very disheartening and makes me want to cry.
The good side is, I never offloaded all of my fantasy story to that drive. I only copied it. I have yet to go check my old computer and see if, by some wild whim of luck, there might be the original folder there that didn't get transferred over. Not likely, but I'd like to hope so.
I will restart the story of course... and hope that it improves with age and a fresh start.

::SIGH::

I still have another short story that I did, but because certain people who read this blog are still watching the series, I will hold off posting that until they are done. It takes place after season 5, and so would be in the position of spoiler material.
Okay, so I'm going to go off and try to do some writing.  I wish I hadn't lost that story... I even wrote a small bit to fit in somewhere the other day.
My current flashdrive is on my desk, it has copies of my fantasy story as well as a few other important creative things..it is staying on my desk  safe and sound.
hmmm... going to go check something online...maybe I backed it up on ...nah..not likely. Okay going to go write. Enough head bashing.
