Well the con was a success! We networked with other merchants, actually made money and had fun hobnobbing with all the other people there.
If I wasn't negative in the bank the $100 I made would actually be a help! I have to keep that in my pocket and use it for gas and food until payday this Friday.
Yeah, I forgot about a couple of recurring payments and got a nasty surprise when I looked at my account this morning.
It hasn't happened in a while, and I'll be getting the disability money (in the form of a visa money card unfortunately which will be a pain to transfer money to my bank account).
I took six pages from the first chapter of my book to a writers workshop at the con, there was only one other person other than the two authors that were 'moderating' it. I had to read my own story! I hate doing that, I always have had stage fright and it's now down to 'performance anxiety' and stifling the urge to use different voices and too much inflection when I'm reading for a critique.
But anyway... they liked it! A lot! Both authors suggested that I start the process for a query letter to send off to agents. Wow! I'm not sure if what I have is long enough to be called a book, it's more of a novella but that's still publishing size.
So anywho...
I am really getting charged up about writing again with this weekends boost. Need to get moving on it before my brain goes to mush in the next few weeks.
It's C-week for me, really getting anxious about it as I should be. I've got lots of friends for support here, but no matter how much support you have, it's still down to you doing what needs to be done.
::Sigh::
The table we got in the dealers room at the con was right next to a booth that had all the beautiful leather rennaisance and sort of piraty type doublets and vests and stuff. I finally got up and looked over some of the womens vests and the woman that was there (who bought two of my necklaces by the way!) asked me something.. I said I couldn't wear anything tight on top for at least a year... didn't explain but I think she knew what I was talking about. I couldn't afford anything there anyway, I'm sure any of you who have been to Ren faires have seen their stuff, it's Pendragon Costuming. Wonderful stuff but since it's all leather and some fabric... way out of my budget!
So,I've got unpacking to do over the next few days, inspiration to address and organizing to do. Katie has the same agenda and we both have to juggle that with our jobs. We both nearly lost our minds over the last three days, she realized she's lost a bag (months ago likely) of some of her spinning with her favorite spindles in it. I lost track of a bag with some of my stuff in it (turned out to be under the table where Katie had shoved it).
And now... drum roll please...

And I don't necessarily say everything I agree on.
