Made it through another day of work yesterday. Didn't start getting sore feet until about four which, by then, I only had an hour of work left so I took some tylenol and finished the day.
My appetite, of course, isn't what I'm used to. I'm having to eat smaller portions in sessions rather than one bigger meal. I bought four rolled tacos for lunch the other day with rice and beans and didn't finish it despite being hungry when I started. I wanted soup yesterday but the local Quiznos had closed down (bummer!) so went to Submarina. Got a French Dip sandwich and a side of potato salad. Ate half the sandwich, nibbled on the salad then finished both on my break two hours later.
I think this is the weirdest thing I have to adjust to doing. It's not that I'm nauseous, I get full faster. My stomach has shrunk I think from the combination of gall bladder surgery and the chemo. No more powering down a giant 'Flying Saucer Tostada' or a plate full of nachos. I think a whole large hamburger might even be in that category. Just so weird.
And of course, I've lost more weight. Wonderful thing about being part of the Sharp group (other medical groups have it as well I suspect) is being able to track your health history online. Whenever they take any vital signs or tests, it gets posted on my personal page and I can track them. Between Jan 8 and beginning of February I lost 6 pounds. Now this is a good thing because I've been wanting to lose weight but... so I'm down to 167. Close to my optimum weight. I had been getting close to 190 before and that was likely due to a steady diet of sodas and snack food.
My blood pressure is very good, everyone is impressed with it being in a healthy range. Knocking on wood that stays that way given that mom had high blood pressure and other issues.
So this is a week off from chemo, next week I go back in on Wednesday for another infusion. Don't know if I want to bring a movie or not since I'm only there for a couple of hours. Just bring my knitting again, I'm trying to design another pair of gloves that incorporate a lavender flower motif on the back. Challenging to say the least, and I still have other projects to work on.
Two quotes for today since I didn't post yesterday, one gem from none other than Ronald Reagan:
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.' "
From a president!
And something to make you think:
"First there is a time when we believe everything, then for a little while we believe with discrimination, then we believe nothing whatever, and then we believe everything again - and, moreover, give reasons why we believe."
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg
And then the internet comes along and totally screws with our believability in anything!
