Rocky has settle in and is now a fixture in the house. Unfortunately, Trista discovered she's allergic to cats. She's never owned one or been around one long enough to figure this out and so .. promised to keep her plied with Claritin. She keeps her door closed all the time but he tries to slip in there when she makes her frequent trips outside to smoke.
I'm tolerating Trista. Trying very hard but despite her saying I'm the best most laid back roommate I just don't have the same feelings toward her. I'm laidback because I don't want to cause friction when I have to live with her for an indefinite period of time.
So, I whine and complain on facebook but most of the time it's just me being hungry or tired and she happens to be doing things that thwart those from being resolved. She doesn't hate Rocky but he's an inconvenience when he scoots past her into her room and she has to handle him in order to get him out.
I hate to say it but with her penchant for wine, certain complaints about the world in general and her entitled attitude in some areas, she's fitting some of the key points for being a millenial. She's a contract worker at some medical records company and more often than I would consider reasonable takes off at least three or four days a month. Doesn't appear to be sick, today being Monday and she had a friend over that she was visiting with until 2 am, I wasn't surprised she took today off. Last week, it was Thursday and possibly her allergy was causing issues but that's about all I could see.
So me being the hard working, conscientious adult is finding it a bit irking that just willy nilly she takes off a day or two here and there because she doesn't feel like going to work.
She may be home today because it's election day butI doubt it. She voted by mail and I sincerely doubt her company closes for election day.
So grumble, gripe... I MISS KATIEEEE!!!
I got to hang out with her actually about a week ago the Saturday before Halloween and hoping to do it again this coming Saturday. It may be the last Saturdays I have off due to holidays coming up.
Home Depot is work.. the people are good, it's still a retail job but I still get to help people and educate some of my coworkers.
And to that matter... I've gotten more... close? acquainted? with one gentleman.
His name is Jon L. (will have to ask what his last name is sometime soon). He's a short guy, quiet spoken but oh what a sense of humor good lord! Within a few weeks of us being in the breakroom together for lunch, trading quips back and forth, me offering humorous anecdotes and stories.. he started greeting me with 'Patty my love how are you?' And if he particularly likes something humorous I've shared he says, 'I love you.' or 'that's wonderful you are a gem'.
Umm..so I basically just took that as a complement... and then he would sometimes walk behind me if i was sitting down and touch my shoulder as he greeted me.....
He's Italian and Puerto Rican, was an orderly in the army I think? A little younger than me, maybe his 50's? Wears jewelry like an Italian, silver chains and a crucifix, at least one or two studs in his ears. He's been married and has a son that according to one source lives in New York?
Currently he's couch surfing at a couples house that are also employees, according to a source has no car. Hmmm. So the other day he rather quietly in a serious tone said that if I could keep an eye out for a room or rather in his words, a sink and shower he could use to let him know.
Apparently the couple he's living with are making it known he needs to move on.
So the next day I asked him if he had any plans for Thanksgiving, he paused and said, no actually. So I invited him to my place for dinner with my family.
He thanked me and said that would be lovely, let's trade numbers so we can coordinate. He gave me his number but his phone was elsewhere charging so I called it and that way it was in his phone. He disappeared then came back and said he added me as a contact as 'Patty..(something indistinct but was humorous from his expression so I chuckled with him).
Okay so I was on my last break about the time he was leaving for the day yesterday, I saw him clock out and hustle off, ostensibly I thought he had left. A few minutes later I'm playing a game on my phone it rang and it was from him.
Oh? I said hello, he said something along the lines of 'I was leaving for the day but didn't want to leave without saying goodbye and wish you a good evening.' I said that was very sweet thanks, was he going to be at work tomorrow he said no, he was off for two days and I said well I'll see you when I see you. I heard noises in the background that sounded like the front of the store, we said good bye and then I heard something to my left. He was standing there mumbling something about what he just did.
The little turkey was right there putting his phone away.
I got up and walked over to smack him on the shoulder a few times, 'don't do that again' we were both laughing. It wouldn't have been so bad but someone else was in the room and I was so embarrassed I fell for that.
He was packing his bag to leave still chuckling and my break was over I asked him as I left the room if he had any food allergies, he said no after a moment (he was still smiling at his prank) I said too bad because I would have fixed some for Thanskgiving.
So yeah.
I think... he's fun... so far. Makes me smile and I look forward to seeing him at work. He works in the plumbing department on the other side of the store but whenever he sees me he makes a point of coming over to talk to me. He makes jokes if there's someone there about 'yes well Patty and I are getting married... having wild monkey sex in the back room' or something. At first I was wary but realized that was his kind of humor. When he said something like that to a former coworker that I was chatting with I said, 'In our minds...' and Jon nodded, adding something else, so the other guy didn't think he was being serious. (Not the brightest guy as far as picking up on humor and cues).
So there you have it.
I think... if he's not gay which I doubt.... will see what happens on Thanksgiving. I've shown him pictures of Amber and Ava and Rocky.
At this stage I'd rather have him as a roommate than Trista. He doesn't smoke, likes an occasional beer...likes Pepsi but I can look past that...
Will update after Thanksgiving if anything happens.
And now for something completely different, a Rocky photo.
Yeah I feel the same way Rock boi....
