Multi part post

 7-9 pm Jan 6 retrospect

I'm writing this as things happen so I remember what it was like. My brain function when at a solid food deficit is worse than usual. What is interesting is last night I had to clench my glutes in the middle of sleeping because I had a sudden 'drop in'. I haven't had that happen at all over all these months and hadn't started this prep so I figured it may have been the Powerade.

First trip was a little less than an hour after I drank the first glass. Nothing huge or amazing, since it just hit my system I was going to give it some time. I've had to go three times since 7pm and so far nothing I haven't had to go through before. Everything I see on fb reels is about food. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, burritos and you know what I'm going to have after the procedure? Likely something semi-solid, possibly jello and so help me if it's lemon flavor I will probably hurl.

According to a 'Crohn's friendly foods' list red meat is off the table including pork and lamb. So chicken and turkey for protein (or tofu but you know me about tofu) if doctor and meds come through I  might be able to have a hamburger once in a while. I hope. Mexican food, highly spiced type is also off the table. The only two examples they gave for 'spicy' was 'Sriacha' and something else, cayenne I think. I'm sorry but that is so very limited. Mexican food is so many other spicy things! Chili powder and cumin are two that are regular flavors in my dishes. Luckily I didn't see anything about garlic or onion.

I told Jon about this short list and looked at me so dejected, 'but they don't know for sure that's what you've got'. I had to look at him and say, they've ruled out all the major infections and things like e.coli. doctor herself said that was the only option left. Hence why I am going through this right now.

It's actually kind of a relief right now, almost like 'back to normal'. I am looking forward to having solid food again for sure. Oh, good thing I checked in with Amber, she thought check in was 9:45 in the morning.

Part 2 Jan 7
D-Day

Started the final session of solution at 9:35, approximately 6 hours before my procedure time. When they say keeping it cold helps mask the flavor they mean overnight chill. It wasn't nearly as bad today or maybe I was used to it. I think ultra cold did help mask the salt flavor a bit more. Still nasty though and I was supposed to have four 8 oz glasses to finish it off. Well I did 8 oz glasses. I know, I measured them before in a measuring cup, and it didn't finish off the prep liquid. There was enough left for another round. I was not going to go there. I followed directions on how many I was supposed to have and that was it. Now the gas tablets for the chaser were just fine, mint flavored which was wonderful. Only had one solid burp from that so far.

I am now on 'no food/liquid' lock down until after the procedure in 3 hours (writing this around 12:30 pm). Not nearly as hungry as yesterday but that is yet to come I suspect. Got gas bubbles going through everywhere right now but that's about it. And now stomach is waking up and realizing there's no liquid even in there to digest.

Jon is napping in the front room, I don't think he slept well. I slept pretty good, only got up once around midnight after turning off the light around 10 something. I think Rocky was meowing around 2 something which is usual for him and Jon gets up to put him in the bathroom. He's really worried about me and how much I've been coughing. He says it's not because it bothers him personally but he doesn't like to see me 'suffering'. I've hardly coughed today so far and then a coughing fit comes on as I type. But no spasms to speak of since this morning when I woke up. Chest feels clear for the most part and don't feel inflamed as much.

Rocky on the other hand is annoyed because he wasn't able to go out yesterday and isn't going out today. Threatened rain most of the day and I didn't trust being that far from the bathroom. Hopefully he'll get his 'grass time' tomorrow.

Del Taco grilled chicken tacos
Haven't had them in years but that sounds good right now. Chicken, white sauce (mayonnaise essentially) flour tortillas lettuce and tomatoes. Yep, that'll do.

I can live with only having red meat occasionally and smaller meals.  Something about old people eating bland food and small portions not being for me? 😭 We don't have huge steak meals or go out to dinner anymore anyway. No loss there, but it was in the plans for birthdays.

Follow up post next.
