No new direction is without bumps along the way.

Jon is moved in, we have a new comfy bed though the frame and headboard are problematic.
If you ever want to find out the true temper of a man, assemble furniture together.
No cussing, exastperated sighs and his usual, 'HORNSWAGGLE!' when he put something together wrong or picked up the wrong bolt. As the assembly continued I noticed he was getting tired and overextended. We got the bookcase headboard together then told him to take a breather, so we sat in at the table and did just that. He thanked me periodically for helping him and I told him it's our project I was raised to help people and being the only girl learned how to use tools and assemble things.
He tends to push himself a bit hard when there's a project in front of him and also is a bit impulsive when buying things. But I'm getting ahead.
If something doesn't work in one direction I usually try as many options as possible. When we got the frame together we realized that the holes on the bookcase didn't match up with the only two holes in the frame. They weren't going to connect. I kept looking at the bottom board thinking maybe if we flip it left to right, Jon says no..that won't make a difference they just aren't going to match up. I sat and held the last piece up while he assembled it and kind of fumed a bit to myself because I was sure there was a way. I voiced that again and he quietly said no, the holes won't match up and that's the only way it's supposed to go together. Never once did he get angry though I realized I was testing his patience so I kept quiet.
Since then I've contacted the company that made the frame and bookcase headboard and they sent me instructions that were less than useful. I had to email them back with pictures of our configuration and asked if indeed did we have the right piece or do we need another. Have yet to hear back from them.
Jon is a compulsive cleaner. He doesn't get visibly angry about things being messy or dirty it's just the way he is. So far we've replaced almost all the lightbulbs in the house with more efficient bulbs, cleaned my bathroom fan and lights so it doesn't screech and is brighter, he's cleaned the stovetop (which is porcelain over steel so he had to use a butter knife to scrape spots off without damaging the surface). He's oiled everything that has a hinge except the front door and Trista's which I told him we needed as a warning system.
Now on that topic.... she seemed to think that because he moved in earlier than the end of the month he had to put up a partial rent and it was due to her.  Yes... we never discussed this, the assumption was he would likely move in at the end of the month but things went faster than we thought. So she felt cheated out of money. Sorry sweetie but we never discussed that it was all in your head and no he doesn't owe you ANYTHING. We agreed to split the rent three ways but then discovered that legally Trista and I can only pay rent with two checks for 700 each. Jon is a sort of 'sublet'. When I mentioned that Trista immediately looked it up and said she would print up a sublease form for us to sign. I looked it up too and told her that wasn't necessary because it doesn't apply to our situation. It was a convenient term to say that Jon wasn't on our lease officially. I muffed it up and we're stuck with it now.
Off the cuff I wrote up a half legal page of an agreement that covered what we had originally discussed and on paper it looks like we pay her half her rent. She would likely have called foul if we hadn't agreed to that and eventually have said that Jon needs to pay in on some of the rent so we just headed that off at the pass. We're leaving it at that and planning on saving as much money as possible to try and afford this place on our own. We'll be using most of the house anyway and on that note...
We were out getting sheets and pillows for the new bed before it arrived and we were still in the market for a new couch. I  mentioned there was Jerome's up the road and we could go see what they have. I had already looked at their website and couldn't find anything in our price range. He said lets go check it out, who knows.
Right so here's what happened.
We walked in and there was a sofa and loveseat with coffee table set up you know like an inviting living room set. Kind of off white almost uneven corduroy sort of fabric and I looked at it, pointed and said, 'Couch?'
Jon looked over and was hesitant as it had pillow backs and looked too soft. I went over and sat on it. Comfy but not too soft, firm and supportive... pillow backs were attached... he came over a bit doubtful and sat down...
He almost melted. Looked over at me, wiggled a bit, shifted his position then looked at me again in surprise, 'This is perfect!'
The salesman came over and asked if we needed help, Jon was still in shock and testing it out, I smiled and said, 'I think we want this.' Jon looked over and was still in awe, "How'd you do that!?' he then asked if it was available and how much it was. Under 400, the accent pillows came with it but he had to go see if it was available yet.
I was laughing and smiling huge all the time because of how shocked Jon was. Salesman came back and said it would be in the store first week of February. Jon was sold, I asked didn't he want to go see if there was anything better? Nope, that was the winner.
'How'd you do that?'
Twenty minutes later it was paid for and we had a receipt, he would be contacted by the store to set up delivery. Jon kept jokingly apologizing to the older salesman how we were so undecided and sorry for taking up his time. We didn't expect to find anything so fast and Jon was just amazed it was the first one I pointed at. We're almost to the first week of February and can't wait!

Okay that's enough for Part One ran on a bit longer than I figured but a lot happened in a short time.
