Random thoughts

This is truly random but it's one of those things that make you go 'hmmmm'.

When you pick up a broom, you sweep the room. Why isn't it called sucking when you pull out the vacuum?

I have spell checker on for posting and it's telling me that 'okay' isn't spelled correctly. How the heck is it supposed to be spelled? OK? Now that's correct... stupid spelling dictionary...
I haven't written much since Sunday or Monday, I made the mistake of reading instead. Reading one of the new Pern books by Todd McCaffrey. He writes like his mother, which means that it takes forever for them to get to the point and gets involved in interpersonal wrangling. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I remember now why I gave up on them.
They're good stories but could be cut down by a chapter or so.
I'm actually learning from reading as well, what style works, what dialogue doesn't work... that sort of stuff.
Right now, I'm going to go get the book and settle down for the night. Devon is watching 'House' behind me and it's extremely distracting to hear that while I try to write. (dialogue is spelled wrong too..dangit. Never can get that one right.)
