Tooth is taken care of...

Went to the dentist, they took a full panorama x-ray (which was covered 100% thankfully!) very kind dentist that didn't faint or cluck at how awful my teeth were. Just got down to the 'bare bones' and pulled the molar.
Well after about three shots of novocaine (spell checker says that's wrong) which even after that it still hurt like hell when he yanked the first piece.
Yes..the tooth was so bad it had cracked wide open from where the remains of the crown was to the root joint. What happens after my surgery next week will determine where they go with my teeth.  I left the two surgeons numbers with the dentist so they can coordinate and be on the same page with treatment options.
Obviously I'm not going to have anything done on my mouth for the next several weeks.
Now I just have to find out what to eat. I have a gaping hole in the back of my mouth that I have to be careful what I eat. Broth.. crackers soaked in broth.... overcooked vegetables that I can gum to the consistency of paste cooked in broth... ::sigh:: the price I pay for not going to the dentist like a good girl. Of course if I had the money to go years back, maybe this wouldn't be nearly as bad.
I seem to recall dental procedures taking a lot longer years ago. Even the x-rays were all digital now and they displayed them right up on a swivel screen to show you what it looks like. Very cool. No big machinery, no drills (this time) and as far as I could tell it was just the dentist working on my  mouth without any assistant... unless she was behind me where I couldn't see her. Anyway, this took all of maybe a half hour, due to my mouth responding very nicely to the novacaine (how do you spell that word anyway?).
Oh and it cost $72 for the co-pay. I'm going to have to look up the coverage and see just what of the extraction was covered. No matter what, having an emergency extraction for only that much... nice.
I've been warned though that there might be another bill involved..they'll have to talk about payment plan if that's the case.

Okay, going to go look for something relatively nourishing to eat. Hope there's some crackers and of course I stocked up on top ramen.

::sigh::
