There hasn't been much to report, being two weeks before surgery. So far nothing catastrophic has happened. Trying not to get the cold that's going around work, eating good to keep my gall bladder quiet.
I'm now planning on having a 'family' dinner with the kids next weekend to just be with them. This is major surgery as far as I'm concerned and anything can happen when they put you under. I want to make sure they understand that. I expect to come out on the other side just fine but.... every time someone says, 'You'll be fine' I get that nagging little worry that maybe it won't. I have to let them know that I'm worried about it and just in case....
We're prepping for inventory at the nursery right now. Lots of things to get in order before next Tuesday, which they've decided will be my last day even though that entire weekend is fine by me. They just fired three people. Before inventory that we're doing with hand scanners, not an outside company. That is just rotten timing. They couldn't have waited a week!? I didn't even get to say goodbye to one of the guys because I was at lunch. Man it sucks.
Okay enough of that.
I'm making Ava's costume, rather made it last night. She's going to be a Punk Fairy Princess with a tutu skirt that matches her hair. I just finished tying all the strips onto the elastic last night but didn't make a permanent size for it. Just a few more touches of ribbon and it's going to be the poofiest skirt she ever had!
Ava is getting a Citizenship award at school today and she had Amber call to see if I could be there. I can, since it's at 10:20 (odd time for an assembly) and I don't have work until noon. Pick up Amber before and then we both get to be there...make sure both cameras are loaded and ready.
I need to get off and get a shower then head out and do some shopping. I still don't have pull up pants, pajamas or slippers and those were on my list to get for my recovery time. A few more warm shirts too that aren't pull on. How's that going to work? Most button up shirts are cotton, ooh, have to look for some long sleeve flannels. I've needed a new one for a while.
Okay really need to get a shower and scoot. Just wanted to touch base with everyone even if there wasn't much to say.
I found two quotes on my homepage that really are great.
"Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen." John leCarre
That makes me think of the ending to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbits come home, having survived death, destruction and despair that no one else was aware of and were changed forever by their experience.
The other is a little closer to home for everyone:
"Nothing is more demoralizing than a small but adequate income." Edmund Wilson
