Took a shower all on my own... yay! It was kind of touch and go washing under my right arm..it's still very numb under there so it's hard to really scrub it. But I'm clean head to toe all on my own!
Got my first full disability check, just enough to cover rent and a little bit left over. I was hoping for more... but it's what I would get for two weeks work. So....going to have to dig into the savings a bit to pay storage and get some gas. Thank goodness for the Vons gift card so Katie and I could go out grocery shopping last night! Still have four cards for Albertsons and I think one more for Vons. Katie's going to have a rough month, she works for the after school program and her school is 'year round' which means they take a month off between the 17th of this month and the same date next month. She's still collecting minimal unemployment because she's not full time so that will kick in but we'll be late on the rent and have to pay the late fee.
Had an interesting situation with bidding on ebay. Decided to follow a link to a site on ebay that was selling stone pendants and beads. For cheap! I can pay through my paypal account so that wasn't an issue.
This small horse head pendant was only going for .50 from the last bidder and with only 2.99 for shipping, I couldn't pass it up! It was ending in about a half hour so I put in 65. Forgetting to put the decimal point in first!!!! $65.00!!! AAAAAKKKK!! Quick! How do I retract my bid! Took me about fifteen minutes to figure that out... got that fixed, then put in the correct bid which by that time had gone up to $1.25, which I got. Man that was a panic! So that's on it's way and there are two other items I'm bidding on, again incredibly cheap even with the shipping. I think it's coming from Hong Kong which means it may not get here until January... but what the heck. I had to close the window and step away from the computer, it was just too tempting. So many pretty cheap things!!!!
Okay, so in other areas, Amber is doing better, she was disconnected from her IV for a day but then started having contractions again and they figured it was because she wasn't staying hydrated so she had to go back on. She's off the magnesium sulfate, and getting booster 'turbo' shots when she's on the monitor and has contractions.
She got to go to a group session with other moms on the same floor which helped her a lot (she got to get out of her room!) as well as she helped another mom with her story of how Ava came.
It's so funny because she's been wanting to go home all this time and now the doctors are saying that her numbers are staying steady so she may be able to go home in a few days and now saying maybe she wants to stay in the hospital. She feels safer and likely likes the idea of having a nurse just a button call away if she gets a headache or has heartburn and they come with the appropriate medicine.
She's at 32 weeks as of yesterday and they're hoping for another two weeks to be on the safe side. She may be in there for those two weeks or they may let her out and then have monitoring sessions every few days plus her regular doctor visits. Her only other concern is not having the babies on her birthday which is the 15th. My only other is the day after Christmas which is their cousins birthday. I was so hoping for January babies...but oh well. They come when they come and we'll be happy when it happens.
Kind of at a stall point in the jewelry department due to not having just the right beads for the right project. I have done two bead netted pouches to a point but have put them aside due to not knowing just the right bead combination for the strap and tassel. I am kind of ashamed on the first one, the bottom turned out really sloppy and I'm debating whether to call it a loss and completely dismember it and restart or just leave it and ask for the best price when I sell it.
Katie has her Artfire site up and running at www.mountain_valleydesigns.artfire.com I'll be putting a little link window up for her on my blog so it's easier to click to her. She doesn't like taking photos of her stuff as much so I think we'll be working it out that I take the photos so she can list them. It doesn't matter who's camera it is because we both have SD cards and I can just swap it out or put it in the carrier for her to upload to her computer.
So, have to go put money in the bank, maybe hit the store for some chips, visit Amber and then I'm done for the day. I was out almost all day yesterday and was beat by 10. Want to avoid the hospital traffic between 3 and 5, it's a two lane road to get to the parking structure and everyone gets off work there between those hours.
So off I go like a herd of turtles!
