Once again, I am awed...

Katie and I are stunned at the generosity of her grandmother and (in retrospect) my dear friend.
Katie discovered that her unemployment funds had run out (don't ask, I have no idea about the details) and we were looking at me trying to carry rent and bills for October. Well, she made a call to her saintly grandmother not necessarily begging but pleading her situation and ... she is sending enough money to bail out the back rent, take care of her car payment and insurance AND rent for October and maybe some extra.
We are devising ways of thanking her in the form of gifts that we have made the express our gratitude. I still haven't thanked CJ sufficiently in my mind for her generosity for the past few years either, but I'm working on it. I will be ever in debt to her unless I win the lottery and am able to repay her funding and gifting.
Other than that, we're doing okay.
I'm now trying to lose weight seriously. Tired of my feet hurting and not being able to walk fast and... I had to change over to my 'fat pants'. I usually wear 36-32 jeans and now am wearing my 38-30's. Not that I've shrunk two inches in height but they were a mistake on my part years ago. So it's mostly salads and a little meat, less soda, more water, less candy and fatty foods like... gulp.... Mexican food. So sad it has to come to this but it's also for my health. I want to lose at least 10 pounds by Halloween. Right. I told Katie I need to buy a scale to monitor my weight and she acted like I was talking about a torture machine, rather funny. But that goal along with the following goal, maybe this is the year I actually accomplish something!

Oh, I have registered at NaNoWriMo for this year, for those that don't know it is National Novel Writing Month. It is a writing marathon of sorts in November when writers and authors who have registered, set a goal of writing a certain number of words a day to reach the goal of 50,000 words by the end of the month. It can't be a project in progress but it can be something from an idea or outline that hasn't been started. I'm talking Katie into doing it as well to get us both kicked in the butt to really get published. There is no fee for joining, but they do ask for donations or to have writers get sponsored as in a marathon. Lord knows we both have enough ideas noodling around in our heads to do something! Novel length is questionable but who knows what is possible!?

Still don't know my plans for my birthday this year and that's a few weeks away. Katie has school during the week but she's ahead of her classes being mostly computer lab stuff. I mention that because last year we drove up and went to Disneyland with CJ, there is a museum exhibit starting October 13 in Santa Ana called 'The Indiana Jones Exhibition' which is not only an exhibition of the props and costumes from the movies but archeological artifacts and information. It runs until mid April of next year so we have time for seeing that. Need to see how much it costs etc. and plan for that sometime.

Okay so I have to get a shower before going to work today, I think I've filled in the high points of what's been happening so far. As they say, no news is good news, but good news is just as newsworthy. Or something like that.
