Day 1-Hustle and Rush to vacation.

I realized when I was on my way home from vacation that I should have been blogging every day. I had more than enough time to do it and it never occurred to me. Oh well.
Let's start with Day 1 and do separate posts for each day like it happened.

We had all day to pack and get some small errands taken care of, the biggest headache was banking. Wanted to get my hair cut and did that while Devon took care of banking.
My dear internet friend known in SL as Hwyl, was the one who paid for our flight, rental car and an overnight in a hotel near the airport since she had to go out of the country suddenly. This is all well and good except.... the flight was taken care of no problem. The hotel room, paid in advance, but the rental car.. they don't get payments up front for.
So... she paid me through paypal. In order for Devon to rent a car, he had to have a bank account with his name on it.. right we got that. Then it turns out that in order for him to use the money I got, we had to create a joint account. Well he was doing that while I was getting my hair cut and told the bank lady to make it a business account. Sigh. Okay so.. we get temporary cards we can use.
Fast forward to the airport.. I'm nervous about flying, so we get to the plan, everything goes okay with a minor hiccup at the TSA check point. I forgot I had a miniature nail file in my wallet and they thought it was a blade in the x ray. Devon had his Magic cards and some of them have a metallic strip on them so they had to pull that out as he was explaining what it was.
Take off went without a hitch, flight was almost booked full so I checked my larger overnight bag at the ramp and everything goes well. We left a bit later than expected and the pilot somehow used afterburners so we landed in Seattle close to midnight as scheduled. Good thing we got there before midnight as the airport train stops running after midnight.
We had updated the car rental (Dollar rental which I don't know whether to recommend or not, haven't rented a car in a while.) on our late arrival so when we got there they had notes about our status. Devon goes to pay for it and they want $250 up front on a card with his name on it.
Ummm, see the temporary card that had the money in it didn't have his name on it. Grumble... so.. we tell them we'll pick up the car in the morning while we get money shuffled around. AGAIN.
Hotel room went without a hitch. Dear Hwyl paid for TWO double bed rooms for us. One would have been sufficient, but they couldn't downgrade so.. we had separate rooms. I was still wound up but exhausted and finally fell asleep, turning off my early alarms for the weekend. My laptop battery doesn't last any more than fifteen or twenty minutes off the charger so I decided to just hit the sack.
Oh did I mention there were TREES here? I noticed the silhouettes of them but mostly it was dark and we were at an airport. More on that in the next post.
