So many things that I wanted to get done and never did them. Kind of a testament to my personality really. That's not a good sort of thing, still messy as ever though I did get some serious organizing and cleaning of my beading area. The yarn pile is next on my list to get shuffled off to boxes and back to storage or maybe handed off to someone who can actually do something with it.
Finishing the year with a head cold unfortunately. Laid me out for two days and it's now trying to settle in my chest. This will not be happening, I can't afford another bout of pneumonia or bronchitis. The two days of the head cold part was so bad that my eyes were watering from the pressure. The area around my eyes were red and chapped! Not something like your nose or lips where you can put vaseline or chapstick on.
It's been really cold in 'Sunny San Diego' lately, getting down to the low 40's and in the dark early hours of morning into the high 30's.
Oh something that I thought of when I was sick. Why is there a difference between a 'summer cold' and a 'winter cold' other than the season it happens? Why is it more prevalent to get colds and flu during the Winter? People are staying indoors more so theoretically that means less contact with crowds. Why don't people say 'I caught a Summer cold' in October? IS there that much difference?
(Just my random brain having fun there, not an actual question so don't send me articles on cold viruses or stuff like that)
I plan on getting a new phone soon, same number but spiffier phone. I have three payweeks in January, sort of caught up on bills and will be good on rent for the month with money left over. Took me long enough to recover from vacation in August! I am planning on taking another trip in April sometime using vacation/tax money. Depends on how much I get back, but want to take some time while in the Seattle area to see some friends that moved up there and some of the places that we missed the first trip. Planning on it being a much less stressful trip than last time as well and make arrangements myself.
Devon got a new phone and it came with a program called Spotlight. It's a video that you move your phone around to follow the antics of the animated character on the screen. Amazing stuff! Then Katie came home with her new Nintendo 2DS and it has a feature that you point the camera at a special card and it animates and comes up with a mini game to play that warps the background of whatever it's pointed at!
This is science fiction technology holy crap! We're seeing stuff that we never dreamed of in books and movies. Sure we don't have interstellar flight or flying cars, but we're getting there. It's the small stuff that makes life worth living sometimes. Hope for the future and all that, if you can't have fun in the future why be there?
Oh! Totally random but have to mention it.
As you saw Devon went with me to visit my friend Miki, got to hang out with a llama and sheep and stuff. Well over the holidays he's had to house sit for his boss on his ranch up in Poway. Well, the ranch has a llama, alpaca, sheep, goats, horses and dogs. He's been having fun, but the most fun... he got to help a sheep give birth!
He was supposed to come to my place then cancelled and said he'd tell me how his day was when he got here. Well this happened over the weekend I got sick but he showed up and was talking then he turned to me with a kind of sparkle in his eyes and a grin and said, 'I helped birth a lamb this morning'.
He is such a cool guy! He said it was rather textbook. The girl that was the actual ranch hand called him to help out and he didn't know why until he saw what was happening. According to him he did just what she said would happen, 'first one shoulder shoop, then the other shoulder shoop, then the head whoop!' and it was done.
Then he nearly dismantles our heater, and shows me the fan assembly and says it was making noise because it needs some rubber feet. Well he put it back in but now it doesn't work.
Great.
Can help bring a life into the world and busts our heater that he supposedly knows how it works. We are having some of the coldest weather and our heater goes out. (As I am writing this I am told the pilot light has been relit, hope to have heater on soon. Apparently he didn't relight the pilot light.)
Shaking my head with a grin.
Here's hoping everyone has a more prosperous, geekish, fun, exciting, quiet, adventurous, healthy, happy and safe New Year!
