Nothing new. Feeling better, plugging along.

Given my budget for finding a new place in San Diego compared to Washington, if I had the money we would pull up stakes and go up there right now. As it is, check engine light came on again on the car. I can't delay getting it serviced much longer or I won't have a car at all.
There are so many properties and apartments that have a range within my budget up there compared to down here. I'm sure there are just as many scam listings but I've been able to wee through those easily and still coming out ahead for affordable apartments.

Breakdown of budget needs right now if I needed to move north:
First and last rent or deposit can be taken care of from HD. They have a fund specifically for that to help associates. Also time off would be paid due to extra funds for covid situation.
~$1000 for living expenses for 1 month
~$2000 to move our stuff in storage long distance
~$900 to fix car (needs new cat. converter and tune up)
~$1000 to rent trailer to haul immediate need things with us.

So about $5k to be comfortable.
Jon was finally able to get unemployment. He's been paying for food and some of the cost of getting hotel room.
I earn about $1200-1300/month right now adding in Jon's unemployment that adds in another $1k but not sure if many apartments count that in. So let's just take in my income and a company needs the primary signee to make double the rent. You see my problem. Due to being a couple and having a cat, most people looking for a roommate want single people.

No, I can't get rental assistance, I make too much. Again, Section 8 is now a 10 year wait list, we are not high priority and therefore low on the list.
We are both turning 62 this year but that is the absolute earliest you can start collecting for SS. We are hoping to hold off that for a few more years. The longer we wait the better the money, if it will be there by that time. My current work 401k is about my income level right now so is not worth tapping into.

We had a nibble of a small senior complex near where Amber lives but that didn't pan out. One of the other factors in getting approved is my exceedingly low credit score.

Just putting all our factors out on the table so people know what is going on.
If I miss this window of transferring to a new store up north it will be another year before hiring season comes around again.

Anyway, have to get to work. Busy Saturday everyday now at work.

Oh and it has been a year since I proposed to Jon. A year and a half since I found my soul mate and have not regretted it once.
