I finally got around to calling the SS office to find out what the hold up was. Called, and despite reports of people not answering it was picked up within a minute. The lady on the other end got my information and what my question was and said someone would be calling back in about an hour or so.
Okay, got phone handy sitting at the computer and got the call. The man on the other end was nice, got all my corroborating info and what was happening. Well it turns out I should have paid attention more when I was on the website filling out the form. It said they needed my birth certificate. For whatever reason I figured they could tap into the ID.Me site and get it there. Nope.. they were waiting for me to bring it to them or mail it. The problem is when I originally got my first SS card in 1976 I had put down my birth month as August then when I got a job or a replacement card or whatever I put in my correct birthday. Why this wasn't caught earlier (as in years ago) I have no idea.
Well shoot! Got the directions for getting it to them and he said they would mail it back to me after they compare dates and info and stuff. They really need it because they have to base my benefit on how long I've been working. Soooo, I was shaking and wondering whether to go over there right then or wait and I realized that the sooner the better. Only large envelope I had is one of the white tyvek priority mail envelopes or #10 (business letter) size. I did not want to fold it again as I had it in a plastic sheet cover (like my marriage license). Jon helped me get it squared away, drove over there (10 minutes away) dropped it off, security guard was nice and went back home. All of maybe half hour to get that done. If I had realized that was what I needed to do I would not be in the financial problem I am now.
We are both broke, EBT is down to the bottom of the barrel and we don't get any money until next week. Pantry is getting thin so is the fridge. I thought Jon got his SS money on the 16th but he double checked and due to restructuring he won't get it until the 19th. Car insurance is going to go through on the 15th and I have $3 in the bank. Storage hasn't been paid, phone, SDGE and all the little stuff are either on hold or going to bounce. Haven't been this broke in years. (I said that before but this is worse). Oh yeah and car registration is due this month so starting next month I could get tapped for that AND we were told by one of the attendants at the gas station our right brake light is out. Woonnnderful.
This really sucks and it's totally my fault for not paying attention. I would have money by now if I had not ignored that blip on the screen.
Amber sent me $50 for gas, we got about a half tank, got a special treat for lunch and some food for Rocky. Here he is checking something out on the windowsill.
I am still picking out dream house plans and looking at properties and such just as a hobby. I don't want a mansion but definitely more room than what I have had in the past five years. A screened porch for the Rockster, separate rooms for our respective hobbies, enough wall space for the entertainment center and display cases and a nice size kitchen so both of us can be in there at the same time and not feel crowded. On the ground, with a respectable yard for landscaping and a veggie garden. Quarter acre is probably too much unless most of it is forest and the yard area is fenced off with enough room for a garden and maybe some chickens or ducks. I like ducks more than chickens.
Sigh. Dreams are how we keep alive and keep moving forward right?
