So, I have had my phone for almost three years, been with Cricket for almost forever and never had issues. Well once but it wasn't my fault. Don't think this is either.
My phone is dead. Well, in limbo really. I was using it as I sat at the desk yesterday, looked at something then put it to sleep and put it on my laptop like I usually do. Never been a problem.
Only this time, I picked it up about five minutes later and I have a blank screen. It's not black, it's not the blue screen of death it is only the backlit screen. Nothing will turn it on, I've tried the hard reset, I've tried plugging it in and doing the reset...nothing. Okay so previous versions of phone I could take the back plate off and pull the battery out. I pulled the case off and big warning sticker saying the battery is not removable. Wonderful. I am waiting for it to completely die which will take forever since the only thing that apparently is using energy is the low backlight on the screen. No messages or calls can get through, I had a friend try and call. It rings through but I don't get anything on my end. I could possibly take it to a Cricket store but I know they'll try everything I did then recommend getting a new one and they'd pull the sim card out of my old one.
I do not and will not have money for a new phone. At all. Ever. On my own. I looked at the prices and it's a minimum of $150 for a decently upgraded Samsung phone. Not including taxes, fees and all that. Sure there's cheaper ones out there but I am not some old granny halfway to the grave who only needs a phone for contacting people. I do stuff on my phone like look things up in a hurry, check my email, send messages to people, that sort of thing needs a newer type phone. I don't play games or music on it anymore
It's three weeks until I get my money and as with all our previous months, I have enough to cover my half of the rent and three major bills and that's it. Maybe some food (which is getting easier with the help of a very good and generous friend). Jon gets a little more in his check than I do so he usually gets a little food as well as kicking an extra hundred in for rent and then we're broke for the next month.
(Edit: Update on phone, it's Alliiiive! Sure enough let the battery completely die and when I plugged it in, came up just fine. Whew! One problem solved at least.)
Oh and I didn't have the right forms when I filed my taxes late so now I can't call them to verify what was needed and all my other information.
Just.... ::heavy sighs::
We have a roof over our head and through generosity still have food in the cupboards and fridge. I can't count on the generosity of friend forever.
All I ever wanted was to live comfortably in a modest home where my kids and grandkids could come visit.
