We are staying in Econolodge next door to the America Finest hotel we stayed at before. It is now closed due to various reasons, either to hold it for homeless people due to the virus or something else.
This is the best room we've had so far. A few very minor things but overall it's got plenty of room and on ground floor.
Still nothing for a room though there's a few leads out. One place is a bit far from work but it is a low income complex and I requested paperwork to fill out. Hooboy and of course I need to print it out and the printer is in storage. Accessible but have to go fetch it on my next day off and this wastes time that someone else with their paperwork filled out has turned in likely.
Now, we may still have a chance because I'm willing to get the paperwork done and maybe even call them and explain the situation and see if there are openings still.
Work has reduced hours we are open, distributed masks for associates as well as forehead thermometer strips for us to check our temperature before we leave for work. Huh? I don't know about anyone else but I can feel a fever coming on before I need a thermometer.
They've given us extra 'sick hours' to use as we want between now and the end of the year. They are really taking care of us and making sure we've got what we need. Also are limiting the number of customers coming in to 150 I think. Customers are still being stupid as I heard one lady loudly exclaim 'Well I'm being infected by 150 people!' as she entered the store. She had a mask and gloves on. Felt like stopping her and asking why she was here and was it essential. Not to mention she didn't have 150 people around her at any one time. IDiot.
Other than that, Jon got a head cold which worried me for a bit but he's better now. Love that man and his humor. He texted me and said he called the dial a nurse (figured he didn't have the right title for the nurse hotline for Kaiser) and said just drink plenty of fluids... oh and m&m's. Now I could tell he was joking about the m&m but figured he had called a nurse. Another text later he said 'oh yeah and ice cream...m&m's and ice cream..don't have those.
Silly man! So on my way home I stopped at a mexican place to get food for me and then swung through Habit burgers and picked up a chocolate sundae for him.
He laughed so hard when I walked through the door and handed his 'medicine' to him.
Later in bed I asked if he had really called the nurse line and he said no, made it all up. I laughed so hard and snuggled him.
I can tell how he's doing mentally immediately when we have a larger space to stay in. He was nervous, tense and on edge but never snapped at me when we were in a smaller room. Within hours after staying in this new room he was cracking jokes and more relaxed. We can never have a tiny home or an RV for long term with his claustrophobia. He can't even wear a mask for a long period.
So another week coming to an end and getting low on money again. Have enough for a few more weeks of hotel as long as the cost isn't outrageous. I've earned so many points from Expedia here's hoping some of that comes through and cuts cost for my stays. That would be nice and handy for our current situation and future trips as well.
TV is in background and distracting me on the news. We are doing good, trying to be positive and still hopeful.
Sans Domicile signing off.
