Quick hello

I am back online, I got vacation pay on top of regular pay so I'm getting back on track with some money to spare.
Good news... rent isn't going up and in fact I got a deal by waiting a little. Getting 2% off rent and a flat screen tv to boot. It's not ours, it goes with the apartment, but hey... it's a bonus. I had a choice between three things, $200 off March rent, 2% off rent for the rest of the lease and a flat screen HD tv installed.... hmmmm. Took the best of the three, 2% off is about $22 and now that I have to pay renters insurance, that pretty much covers that extra cost so it comes out even. I'm okay with that.

So, thank you for your patience and understanding while I was off line.
Oh, the time off line was productive, I got a lot of writing done on my story and feel good about submitting it somewhere. It's a first draft as far as I'm concerned, lots of editing to do, but so far it's a tad under 39,000 words. Have to look and see how much is considered average count for a paperback, but I bet it's more than that.

Got car insurance restarted, now I have to go show proof to DMV...but that's a whole other story...

I had a small revelation the other night.
I was sitting down watching Babylon 5, (hope some of you have taken my advice and rented it..otherwise this isn't going to make as much sense as it did to me)
Anyway, there is a pivotal episode in Season 3 that is a major turning point for the station crew that involves them breaking away from the Earth government. I was watching it and pretty soon Devon sat down on the couch next to me and then Amber sat on the floor followed by Ava. (Who was just taking advantage of the bag of cheetos).
Now, they've seen it before or at least know what it's about, but here we were, sitting down and watching this one very tense and dramatic episode together without saying anything.
It was one of those moments that really drove home just how good the writing and direction of that show was, that three kids and one adult would sit and watch it because you couldn't not watch it.
If some of you do pick it up, please comment on this blog instead of an email... that way we can discuss it kind of round robin out in public.

It has been a really bad few weeks with me going through the Big M...yep folks...gack.
I've been having almost constant hot flashes and the occasional mood swing. The hot flashes are annoying but manageable, first I'm hot and not in the way that you feel the room is hot, but feel like I'm running a fever and sweating... a half hour later I have to put a sweater on and this goes on for most of the day. Especially this time of year when it's cool in the morning and warms up during the day. The building I'm in at the nursery is colder inside than out, so I go outside, take my sweater off, go inside and put it back on...repeat as necessary.

Oh, and my arthritis is really playing havoc with my fingers. They feel all swollen and the left index finger, every once in a while, feels like someone is stabbing a pin into the knuckle. I haven't been taking the glucosamine because you need to eat a good meal when you take it and lately, I haven't had a chance to have enough food that I would call a good meal. I'm going to try again and put a reminder in my bag for lunchtime at work to take it then. Maybe I should look into something with ginkgo in it too. But I'd have to remember to take it..in order to take it to remember things better...

My mood has improved somewhat, most likely coinciding with having money in the bank. Oh, and Amber got a phone call from her previous job saying she can start again on Monday..just in time to work there for about two more months..but it's money at least. She's going to look into a cheaper daycare I hope.. that was eating up most of her paycheck. But she'll have money again at least. Something is better than nothing.
Okay, going to be planning a trip to Costco tomorrow for grocery shopping...yaay! Planning on a lot of non-perishables and tp and paper towels... that way we're stocked up for a while. My freezer can hold only so much but if I plan actual meals and get some cooperation from Devon and Amber, I can start cooking large batches of food and freezing it for microwave meals.

Alrighty, that's enough for now.. deciding whether to go knit, work on my idea or write....dangit.
(oh by the way, I'm trying something new... pretty soon you'll notice I have a google ad on my page. If you click on it... I get a little money. but I don't get paid until it gets up to $100. I don't know how much it is per click yet...but anything is better than nothing. Forward my blog to anyone you think might be interested in my ramblings)
