Lots of drama today

I didn't pay the SDGE bill so it got shut off, but only for a few hours. The drama was trying to get through their stupid 'Bill Matrix' site to pay it by phone, it wouldn't take the amount for whatever reason. We were swamped with customers so it took me until my lunch to get back online in the office and go through the SDGE site and then call them back up and give them the confirmation number and finally get that taken care of! Sheeesh! I was very close to doing serious harm to the company phone.
The other half of the drama involves Dan and Amber... leave it to say that keeping secrets is not a good idea with someone who tends to be jealous anyway. It blew up in Ambers face and now Dan is staying with someone else down here. They're off somewhere 'talking' right now and I can only hope that Dan sees past Ambers lying straight to him and they work something out. I'm not going to go into any more detail than that because it's as convoluted as a soap opera plot.

But we were swamped at work today! Sheeesh! We were trying to put out tons of bedding plants (veggies, flowers, you name it, it came in today) and due to the cloudy weather on Sunday, everyone and their foreign grandparents came out! I got a call from a lady that lives in Whittier! (for those that don't know, it's near L.A.) who comes down to visit once in a while and they do their plant shopping with us. Well she had some questions about some hedge type plants and I finally told her, you can get these plants at any nursery up there. To our credit she liked shopping down here and enjoyed the service I gave her last time.
Great.. my 'Fan Club' has expanded to out of towners!
To explain that remark: There are several customers, for the most part, annoying in their own special way that only like to deal with me. It must be retail karma or something, but whenever they come to the nursery, they go out of their way to find me to help them. I began calling them my 'Fan Club' last year because two of them came in the same day..oh lucky me. They all usually have some sort of problem, mental capacity or otherwise that makes it very difficult to deal with them on an intelligent level.
I've been there for eleven years and I think that's about how many customers I am reluctant to deal with when they come in.

So anyway...
We also got a surprise visit (at the nursery) from a young kid that used to work there who took off with the money he had saved and has traveled all around the country and up into Alaska. He is going to be one of those guys that has tons of stories to tell when he gets older. He's got shoulder length wavy hair that he keeps pulled back, but he told a story of his driving through the Southern states... yeah, he kept getting stopped and asked 'what'cha you doin' boy?' attitude.
Anywho... I envied his ability to be able to just travel around, do odd chores once in a while, he even bought a van to sleep in and paid it off. Without rent, and only having to look for food and a place to sleep... and gas... wow.
That's what I want to do next summer, be able to just take whatever money I have and drive around to see the country.
I want to see mountains and canyons and eagles, and big trees... vast fields of corn and wheat... see what the true heart of this country looks like. See small towns and rivers, Mt. Rushmore in person, Four Corners and the pueblos. Want to see the stars at night outshine my headlights. Tahoe's deep blue in summer, smell the pine forests again and the smell of the hot dirt in the shade of Ponderosa's. (I've seen the Salt Lake and desert...thanks...been there, going to take a different route.)

Okay, getting wistful now and Devon has turned on the Simpsons on tv behind me... have to turn on music an go see who's in the chat tonight.
That's what I want to see.
