Devon's Home!

After my ordeal of today, just as I stepped out of the building after my MRI, Dan calls me. He got home mid day and checked Devon's status. He was no longer in custody, he was coming home today.
The only reason he stayed in was because no one showed up to his first court date and because he had no 'permanent' address, they couldn't release him on his own recognizance. So, since I showed up today, even though I couldn't stay to see him, his attorney was able to tell the judge that, yes indeed, he had someone living in San Diego and could prove he had somewhere to go.
Dan and I drove all the way down almost to the border to the state prison (East Mesa facility thankfully) and waited for about an hour until he was let out.
The nickname for the facility is 'Camp Snoopy.' As I thought, he was in the better of the two facilities. Ideal for him, eat, sleep, read, sleep eat... repeat. There were yard days they could go out and play various ball games and stuff. So, yeah... I was more stressed out than he was. He had gone through ROTC in high school and knew how to follow orders.
His day started around 3:30 or 4 in order to get to the courthouse with all the rigmarole they have to go through with 30 or 40 prisoners to shuttle. I've had a helluva day with being in moderate pain, little sleep and little food, the MRI and all that.
So.... tomorrow I go back over to where he is, give him $5 for the bus and shuttle him down to the trolley station so he can figure out where to go for his probation assignment.
I'll detail his situation another time.
I'm pooped. My 'trials' are just beginning so hopefully going to get a better nights rest and wake up  more refreshed than this morning.
::SIGH:: seriously tired.
