It's RAINING!

It's raining. In San Diego. In the middle of JULY!!!
What other signs of the apocalypse are coming? This is ludicrous but maybe it's a sign that Comic Con is leaving San Diego? I heard some whisperings from people that are there.
If San Diego does go to Anaheim, it's not that far away but it would lose about a third of it's attendance simply because a lot of younger geeks don't have the money to spend on transportation or hotel rooms. They live here! (A third is likely a low percentage.) I never used a hotel room, I used the trolley and bus.
Well if it does go (and their contract isn't up until 2012 so I don't know if that means 2011 is their last year or 2012.) that might leave a big con vacuum for smaller ones to fill.
They're estimated sold out attendance this year is 125,000 people. That's an incredible amount of people to descend on one city for a convention! One part of me is thankful that I'm not there. The reason why I haven't gone the last few years is because of the crowds. Preview night used to be a night for those lucky hundreds who got 4 day tickets. Now, it's as crowded as any other day of the con. It's not special anymore and it's turned it into a 5 day con instead of 4.
Like I said, if it does leave or split, that leaves a hole where smaller cons can gain some attendance, hopefully.
I did some writing last night, or rather some editing of my story. Put my earbuds on, played some inspirational ambient music and edited some paragraphs for about an hour. More editing today or tonight is likely, but there's a lot of things I have to do before work. Everyday stuff unfortunately. Dishes, shower, go visit a favorite yarn shop that I haven't been to in months. (My paycheck from the fabric store was smaller due to having the day off for my biopsy have to watch my spending even more.)

I keep looking at two stone 'bead elements' sitting on my desk. They're both a type of jasper and completely different. One is a 'donut' and the other is an oval drilled lengthwise so it could be strung on something. It just amazes me how varied and beautiful that group of stones is. I got a string of eleven ovals and no two are alike and gives me the opportunity to make eleven different necklaces. (or bracelets but the stone is a bit big for a bracelet.)
I need a new camera and batteries. My camera has been sitting in my purse for a week and it says I have a low battery. Very frustrating since I have just bemoaned my lack of money. The next best camera is about $100. Kodak Easy Share has been my choice for the last five cameras. Each time I need a new one, it's the same price I paid previously for the better camera. Started with a C613 and am now up to an 813, the current price for a 913 is $99. What I paid three years ago for my current camera.
The reason for this digression is I wanted to take a picture of the two stones...here they are as best I could. (Not half bad actually.)
The oval stone is a bit dark, I lightened it a bit to get the details. The flip side of the donut has more black in the same area and like I said, they're both completely unique and yet in the same family of rock. I tried to use a kleenex over the flash to difuse it a bit, worked great on the first but not so much on the second.

Okay, enough for now. Have to get a shower and do dishes before I head out today. And it's RAINING!!
