It's been horrifically cold lately with rain. Hmmph, it's San Diego!!! I wake up in the morning and my google weather says it's 46.9 at 7:30 am. That means it did get butt freezing cold last night!
Doctor's appointment last week was just a check up for how I'm doing on my after med and if any new problems cropped up. Nothing to report except for my toes and some of the bottom of my feet still has neuropathy. He said if it didn't start clearing up by the next check up (January) they'd see what the options are. He mentioned a drug for it but the side effects... he left it at that so I'm not going there.
I did mention something wrong with my right eye and now that I'm thinking, it might be glaucoma setting in. Have to get an appointment with the eye doctor asap on that. I'm a year overdue for an eye exam anyway.
Amber and the kids are doing fine, except Amber's office closed down. They just had to close their operation due to lack of work so she's now on unemployment but that pays more than what she was getting from working part time. She immediately looked around for another job similar to what she had but there aren't many options. If she could find a job that paid enough to cover babysitting for the twins she'd likely jump on it.
haven't heard from Devon in a week or so but he's frequently out of communication when his phone runs out at the end of the month and he doesn't get money for days later. He still doesn't have a job and he's getting desperate, going to remind him that the holidays have started and even if it means working at Target at least he would have a paycheck that's bigger than unemployment.
I'm wishing there was a way of making what I do now but from my computer. I figured out that I would need to make $25/hour full time to cover expenses and medical. Not going to happen in the near future, it would require classes of some sort that would require money and more time. I'll just keep slogging through and look forward to retirement.
We've got inventory tomorrow at the nursery. Despite the rain some pre-inventory organizing has been done, but not nearly enough to make it go smoothly. We aren't closing to do that either which is going to make it interesting. A lot of larger companies don't close for inventory like Target and Walmart but we're a small operation. The cost of paying employees for a day but not having possible income to cover said pay... that's the factors I suspect.
On today's agenda, I'll taking the bus to work because Katie has tons of errands to run between her work shifts and won't be able to shuttle me down to the nursery. That's fine, go get breakfast at the McDonalds on the corner across from the bus stop and I'm good. Don't have to come in until 11 today anyway so it's an easier morning than tomorrow when I have to be there at 9.
Oh yeah, I got a jury summons in the mail. They can't pay me as much as it would cost to lose a day or more of pay at either job. It's not until December 7 (dun dun dunhhh) so I need to figure out how to answer that. IF it had come when I was going through chemo it would have been an easy thing based on medical treatment. I hate dealing with the legal system and my way of handling stress is to knit.. can't take knitting needles with me and playing on an ipod is not acceptable either. Looks like I'm going to have to tell them no. I could also tell them that I don't believe in the fairness or process of our legal system. Anyone who got caught obviously is guilty. No deliberation necessary.
The last time I actually reported for jury duty was when I was 18 I think. The suspect had been caught with electronic goods in his trunk outside the back door of a store and was seen loading objects into his car. I never got chosen but if they had interviewed me, I would have said 'He's Hispanic and was caught with the goods. He's guilty."
Anyway, going to go do some other things like try to warm up.
Many of you will recognize this quote..one of my favorites!
"Weather forecast for tonight: dark. Continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning." - George Carlin (Hippy Dippy Weatherman)
