I made some delicious split pea soup with ham!
I may have added a touch too much water or not enough peas, because it isn't think like your typical pea soup, but it's AWESOME! The glaze on the ham pieces I used added that extra little spice and sweetness and I am just stunned at how great it turned out. That's going to be lunches for a few days with the cold weather now. Just need some crackers to go with it... I had two bowls last night and kept wishing my spoon was bigger. Yum!
The walk in the canyon on Thursday was... invigorating. There were frost patches in the shade of trees and bushes, everything was very wintery looking and COLD! We saw a thicket of wild roses, little tiny things and told Katie we need to go back in the summer and see what it looks like when they're in bloom (actually in spring, about another two months really).
My Christmas cold is still hanging on, starting to get nasal congestion now, the cough is still hanging on and is compounded by attempted drainage from my nose. Had to give a class at the nursery on pruning roses and had to apologize for my constant coughing and clearing my throat.
Sigh.
Due to taking time off for being sick and shortened hours, rent is behind this month and short a couple hundred dollars. Taxes are coming up soon too, don't know how much I'll be getting back, but I think most of my previous tax bills have been paid. Maybe I'll actually have some money to get caught up this year!
Still stunned about how good the soup turned out.
(Just called work since it's raining and don't have to go in until 11. Woot!)
I can't find a decent quote to sign off with today... oh well.
Go out and cook something different!
