Slowly since we can only do storage runs on my two days off but now have a nightstand on my side of the bed and the over the toilet cabinet for extra storage.
Getting the midday cooling figured out as well.
I bought one of those small box 'Arctic Air' personal AC things. Didn't work to do anything at all. You had to sit in front of it six inches away and even then it was like a personal fan. Even when you did the wetting of the cooling thing and freezing it.
Returned that and bought a big floor fan that pushes A LOT of air. Noisy but it does the job. Plop that in the hallway in front of the bedroom, turn on AC and cools the room faster. Not a lot but it is moving air which helps.
Lots more to do though. No pictures up yet, got my dresser in the room so I could put my luggage in the closet, which will get to storage eventually. Jon no longer has his underwear and socks in a bag in the closet (yay!) as I told him (or he asked to use) the top drawer for his and I still have two drawers for my shirts and underthings.
Internet is good, downside is changing address would up my car insurance by almost $100 due to longer distance. I get asked occasionally if I'll transfer to a store that is closer and my answer is maybe. It's a long process to transfer stores, I know they need someone with my knowledge where I am and would have to see if the closer stores have openings in garden full time and if the company is doing transfers amid the virus lockdowns.
I made a batch of crock pot spaghetti sauce last week and a batch of salsa the previous week. Need to find my canning jars in storage(haha). NO idea what box they're in so might have to buy more. The second batch of salsa was weak because I left the seeds and membrane out of the jalapeƱo.
When weather starts cooling down, crockpot chili will be on the menu.
I love cooking when there is someone that appreciates it so enthusiastically. He made a face at the second salsa batch and I told him yeah, salsa flavored water. Spaghetti is always a hit, and I have some chicken thighs I want to cook too.
The oven and stove are a joke so I'm limiting cooking on it. It's all electric so before I put anything in the oven have to calibrate it with a thermometer. Besides, I DO NOT want to heat up this small space any more than possible.
I really need to save money so I can get my car fixed. I'm using a tank of gas a week due to the catalytic converter needing to be replaced. Also need a new battery and a tune up. So about $2000 worth of work; battery is $200, CC is about 800 and tune up is about 60 oh and new tires before rainy season for sure.
On top of that trying to put money away for the next few years until we can qualify for retirement. We both turn 62 this year and it is advised everywhere to wait until 65 at least to get best benefits. Looking it up I found that SS at 66 (and 8 months) would get me about the same amount as I'm earning now full time. Don't think I can wait until I'm 70 and retiring in the next year or two I would only be getting about half of full retirement (full is 1245, early is 645).
The unemployment bonus runs out soon which drops 600 off Jon's income unless they extend that as well. As much as this virus has caused issues left and right it has helped us when we needed it.
Work still is giving OT bonus to anyone who wants so I'm going back to getting an extra hour every day. HD base pay is $13.40 due to San Diego minimum going up. OT is double that so it at least takes care of some taxes on my paycheck so I'm not losing any money.
We still want to move to Washington state and after being in this part of town during summer... even more so. I have a feeling that if we got a good chunk of change from taxes, my car may need the money first. If it breaks down before then I can apply for a money grant from work to get it fixed. Pain in the ass but at least it is an option.
In any case we're getting settled in as anyone knows it takes a long time to get things where you want them and in our case 95% of our stuff is staying in storage. Which is another bill every month. Luckily this month I have an extra paycheck so will see what I can do to either use some to pay something off or save it.
Roof over our head, food in the house, counting my blessings every day having a wonderful man in my life.
