We are in! Sans Domicile no more!

Full move happened yesterday. Amber and Wellman came to help out and get stuff hoisted up the stairs. We had all the big furniture already loaded in the truck by the time they were able to get to storage. Loaded the last bit and headed out to El Cajon.
On our way there we got a call and message from the previous senior complex we had hoped to get into. They had a ground floor unit come available drat it! We were the first ones that she wanted to call and appreciated her thinking of us. Another one is coming available in July.
Just called the manager back and told her thank you for thinking of us but she missed it by two weeks.
Many many things that need to be done before Jon is satisfied we are moved in. At least three outlets need to be replaced, everything needs to be cleaned as the previous tenant smoked and they didn't do a very good job of cleaning.
We got the bed together but couldn't find the sheets but found the covers but at least we had our pillows already and found the bedding.
Drawers are tiny so our silverware tray from ikea won't fit. Even as Jon is finishing his shower he's cleaning the door frame of the bathroom. Sitting under the living room fan I realize we need to clean that thoroughly as well.
This place must have been built in the 70's due to having yellow formica counters, wood trim on yellow walls. Oh and the outlet closest to the door, behind the couch, is the one that is tied to the light switch. The ceiling fan is tied to the light switch on the other side of the counter in the kitchenb. Stupid stupid set up.
This is not tied into a lease at least so we are month to month which means if we give it a while and something else comes up that's better, we can move out with notice.
We are hommme as Jon says. We gently disagree on a few things such as placement of furniture and where to put the microwave. He insists on what little counterspace we have and I want to put it on a separate cart.
Unpacking things I discovered that my wireless mouse for the computer somehow did not get packed with it. I have no clue why or how which frustrates me so now we have to go get one of those along with necessary stuff.
All of this is coming out of Jon's unemployment bonus money thankfully or we'd be screwed. I'm broke until Friday.
One thing though, internet is incredibly fast compared to what we've been encountering at hotels. Cox is great so far, just went to one of their stores to pick up the equipment, figure out which coax plug was active, plug it in, get network name and password from the bottom of the unit and voila!

Need to go get dressed now. We had cereal for breakfast, Jon bought a mini Keurig unit and fixed one cup of coffee. He bought the reusable filters too so he can use whatever coffee he wants too. He got it in powder blue and sitting it on the yellow counters it just screams 50's color scheme. I was expecting maybe black or red but it's his coffee maker.

We will be making this our own first home together. No couple ever gets their dream home right off the bat so I keep remembering the story my mom would tell about the apartment they had when they got married. They lived upstairs and one of the first meals she made involved rice and she made too much. She went to all the neighbors and asked if anyone wanted some.
I'm better than that as a cook.
Need to go find our huge crockpot though or lunch and dinner will still be eating out.
I found some pots and pans so maybe not.

Day 2 has begun, need to get dressed and get more stuff unpacked and set up.

 Domestically stable signing off.
