At the vet, hiding under the bench. |
Still hanging on a prayer as they say. I don't want to sign up for MediCal because then if I get the job benefits are still delayed but then that counts toward income. I got the notification letter from CalFresh (food EBT) that I qualify... for a whopping $19/month. Since I had to put in both our incomes and claimed Jon as household we make about $2000/month on unemployment combined. That wasn't worth the time and effort.
We took the car back to the key place that replaced the batter in the key remote because.. after me programming three times it still wouldn't unlock or lock the drivers door. There's no instructions in my books in the car on how the keyless entry is supposed to work (that I found at least) and nothing online other than how to reprogram a key. So anyway took the car back, I told him the key works but won't work the drivers side door so he double checked the key we went outside and checked all the locks and sure enough (like I wouldn't know having tried it four times) the drives side doesn't get locked. He said it was the actuator which runs the motor to lock that door. Which means that even though I can 'activate' the alarm system it really isn't set because it's based on that door. Estimated price for fixing door actuator: $250-$350. We should have asked if it worked or not when we picked it up, bought the 10 day insurance for anything going wrong and it would have taken care of it. Oh well.
Amber and her crew are moving in the next day or two. Happy for her but because they're getting a professional moving company they don't really need any help. I offered but there's not much to do, she got all their stuff packed up with help from the kids (sorting legos, nuf said). Haven't heard from Devon in a while, since his birthday in April. Kiri... now Krys, is doing good, all their boys are chugging along, oldest is staying with Dave (his grandpa!) to help him. Still processing that Krys is doing HRT and transitioning. It's a hard emotional process for me.
And then there's Rocky. He had something between the pads on his paw a week ago and just to be sure took him to the vet because for once I had the money. Doctor said it looked like something got stuck on his fur under there and he was licking it so it got irritated. Gave him antibiotic shot just in case, some pills to stop the irritation and some pads to clean the foot whenever he licked it. It all cleared up and took him back to the vet to check on him. All good, got him his vaccinations, a three month flea control and he is now chipped. Have to get the microchip number from the vet, she handed me the brochure to register but you need the chip number to register. Hmmph. Minor annoyance, they registered him already so if, god forbid he escapes, he has his collar with my phone number and his name on it and he's chipped so all good. He's basically a friendly cat as long as you don't run at him or make loud noises.
Apparently it was a stray cat convergence this morning which, me being the unobservant human, didn't notice all of them until they moved. Almost 3 minute video of meeting the black cat (not too close), the manx then zipped by right to left heading for the parking lot, then the black and white cat was on the left just trying to get to its free breakfast provided by the lady that lives under us. (I have videos but they take forever to upload, will edit when they're done.
