It was definitely a fun day and the only thing I could have wished was lower temperatures (and maybe a bit more free money to spend). Other than that it was wonderful watching Jon look around (when he wasn't sweltering) and seeing a big grin on his face or saying, 'but how are we going to get that home?'. Which happened a lot when we were walking around Galaxy's Edge. We would have lasted a lot longer if it hadn't been so hot, he was done by 3pm and we were able to sit in some shade and get him a cat nap which helped. His lower back was hurting and my feet and hips were hurting but we pressed on. Only other regret was not being able to show him the huge Lego store in Downtown Disney.

Obligatory picture of the castle |
They have done such a beautiful job refurbishing the castle and hope we are able to see it at night next time. It makes me tear up when it is so beautifully lit. They redid the paint and decorations for the 50th anniversary and it is just incredible.

Stitch sighting! |
We had just finished lunch and I looked up at the former World of Tomorrow now Star Wars something building. It's right next to the Pizza restaurant which FINALLY was renamed Pizza Planet. It's been how long since Toy Story came out and they just now got to changing the name?! Anyway, stitch was hanging out at a distance like all the characters were and when we walked over to shouting distance Jon waved and then lifted a leg and Stitch copied him, twice. His handler (Stitch not Jon's) hollered 'Happy Birthday' to Jon and Jon did a hand to the forehead in thanks. All during the day as I expected, cast members would wish him a happy birthday, at first I think he was uncomfortable with the attention but he seemed to accept it later on.

Must have a picture of this |

And this. |
There are some things I always get pictures of and the castle, Matterhorn and the statue of Walt and Mickey are always going to be there. Oh yeah and the entrance plaque of leaving today. I haven't had a chance to read the plaque on the statue, there were too many people in the way.
Did I mention attention to detail?
The rolling carts of coke were even designed to fit into a Star Wars theme. This is one of the things that Jon actually went up to the cast member and said he loved it but didn't know how to get it home. It is driven by a cabled remote and requires an operator and the person who will do the selling at the destination.

These were both in the same corner area but am not sure if it had been a functional booth at one time or it's just set dressing. Couldn't even tell if that is real wood carving but given the uniform color of all the pieces I'd say not. Poor R2...no droid lasts forever.

Black Spire Outpost |

Jedi statue. |
Just so many details! I have more photos but honestly, you get the idea that we were both so impressed by everything and just couldn't take it all in.
The Black Spire Outpost is a market type area that sold everything from Jedi robes to replica animals and just all kinds of stuff. So much fun and the sounds! Just sitting and waiting for Jon while he was in the restroom there were noises and voices and animal sounds, I had fun just sitting there!
Our trip cost just under $400, tickets, food and trinkets. The new 'Magic Key' passholder system would be about that much per person but you get 2 reservations at a time per person. So that sort of pays for itself right there. There are blackout days and such but given our new freedom (barring me getting a job) I will finally have the time and enough money to visit there more often.
When the kids were little we had year passes to Sea World and when we went to Disneyland, at the time, it was just under $100 per person for a year pass but I was working and had school and all that so it really wasn't worth the money to do that.

Happy couple |
We were tired at the end of the day but the smiles say it all. It was all worth it and we will do it again soon. Still smile seeing all these pictures and can't believe how lucky I am to have spent it with him.
