"And a fun time was had by all" Pt 1

Holy crap are we exhausted. But it was sooo worth it! We survived Disneyland in one day and it was all worth it to hear Jon say, 'This is the best birthday ever!' and that was just after we rode Space Mountain first thing in the morning.

Alarm went off at 4:30, I had a hard time getting up because I couldn't get to sleep the night before so likely only got about 4 hours of solid sleep. Jon was up, in the shower and ready to go in record time and we ended up leaving about forty minutes later. We didn't close up the house completely as I knew it would be hot. Stopped at drive through Starbucks that just opened up on the way to the freeway and we hit the ramp at 5:35 am. Drive was good, made excellent time getting to the parking lot around 7:30 and we were both needing a bathroom by the time we hit the main ticket gate. Due to pandemic rules, no trams were running. So it was a quarter mile walk from the parking structure to the gates. Normally about a 5 minute ride took us twenty minutes or so to walk. It was already warm and humid. Oh and of course got him the obligatory Birthday button at one of the shops on Main Street.

Take note of that vest, it's important later.

So first thing we hit was Space Mountain. We already missed the first chance for boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance. Two windows, 7am and 12pm... so we had lots of time to wander around and do stuff before noon. Kind of glad we did. So anyway Space Mountain was first and there was already a line but once again it was worth the wait. It's a shared favorite ride with us and he was just like a kid. We were on the final ramp to the main loading area and he looks down at the cars coming into the station and says, 'I love this ride! This is the best birthday ever!'

Relatively crowded and this was the interior after going through the outside line for about twenty minutes.

I kept trying to catch candid shots of him so this was the closest I got. So, many, people and all I could think was, sooo  many people that might have Covid. We have both had it and have our shots but there's always that tiny chance.

So that was first, our only plan for the day really was to hit Galaxies edge and get on the two rides there. Everything else was just time filler. Walking out of Tomorrowland and there was only a 5 minute wait for Star Tours, sure what the heck. 5 minutes was not how long we waited but that all right. Everything is so fun and almost interactive now the lines are not so heinous.

Couldn't figure out if he was interactive or not
3PO and R2

The only issue with Star Tours is it still has a hologram of Princess Leia from the original Star wars asking for help. They really need to update that.

So we got those two out of the way and in hindsight we should have headed straight to Adventureland to hit Jungle Cruise since that was revamped recently. We bypassed that and headed straight to Galaxies Edge taking the Fantasyland path. There's three ways of getting in there and I think we hit all of them going in or out. Absolutely wonderful.

I am really ticked off because I thought I had hit record when we walked into Galaxy's Edge first time, recording Jon's first reaction to it and I hadn't. I even said, 'like a kid in a candy store, best day ever'.

He always wants to take his glasses off

So many pictures of details for this place. Just so much fun!

Love the details!
In line for Smuggler's Run

Just so much fun!

Every time Jon saw something that was incredible he'd say, 'I want one'. then it would change to, 'How do we get it home?' especially looking at something like a large model or one of the droids. Every time I offered to get him something he'd say nah.. Such a big kid but won't let someone buy him things.

Okay that's it for now, and only covers the first two hours of our day. Whew! Can't believe how many pictures I took! More in second post, hopefully only going to be three installments, maybe two.

Still very tired today and both of us are feeling it in our legs and hips. He's napping in the front room right now. I might even lay down for a bit.

We're getting old but still feeling so young with a day like this.
