Musings and things happening.

So Jon got his SS money today but not his tax refund and he did his about a week before me. Go figure. So wierd, and I haven't gotten my EBT money for food yet that should have happened by now. Last time there was a delay I had to call and they told me that due to the holiday it was pushed to the 25th. Wonder if that's an excuse now as well.

I signed up for a food distribution for this friday and they give out a 50lb box of mixed goods, dry, canned, veggies and meat. I remember getting those when we first moved to San diego and it was $5 a box. For the number of people we had to feed we got three boxes. The meat was always ground turkey and we would get odd vegetables and lots of pasta. This is apparently free but we'll have to drive to the local college and be in line before 10 AM. Free food is free food and I know how to cook ground turkey now to make it taste like beef for spaghetti sauce.

It rained really hard last night for about two hours or so. Lovely to hear and smell  and see. The garden doesn't need watering for a few days at least today is cool/cold, almost clear skies and breezy. As per typical spring weather for San Diego. The local dogs, mostly small yappers were all going off and now it's suddenly quiet and wonder if we're going to get an earthquake or something.

This morning Jon decided to clean the tub and the rubber mat before his shower. He used some bleach or something with bleach in it and the smell was all over the house. I had to turn on the fan in our room, the front room and open the door. He noticed the fans were on and apologized for the smell then jokingly said, 'wonder why I was so dizzy and got a headache', I gave him a look and knew he was actually half serious letting me know he was having issues. I told him I'm more worried about your lungs honey. That man, love him forever but if he keeps that up it won't be as long as we hope.

I mentioned I want a new bigger place for all of us and I mean it. It hurts my heart to have to close Rocky in the bathroom when I have to do something and Jon's taking a nap or close the bedroom door while he takes a nap in the front room so Rocky doesn't jump on him while he's sleeping. Yes I would love to have a bigger kitchen and a yard to do more gardening but also a garage so Jon can putter with tools and stuff. An extra room so he can play his games or listen to music and put all this collections up on the walls and shelves.

Something for all of us to open up more and relax. We both say we're thankful for what we have, despite the rent going up we are still way below average rent for our area and we have a roof over our head and bare minimum to cook and eat. Sigh. We could use more though.

Oh and the other thing is living somewhere neither of us have lived. Jon has lived pretty much anywhere in San Diego I've lived most of California's major two cities.. well at one end or the other. Gong somewhere different that would be cheaper and an adventure for both of us. We just need to get through the next year without anything happening to make it more difficult to get there.

If we move further north  I will miss this color combo in the winter:

But then I would have something like this to look forward to in the spring:
