Still holding steady-lots to do.

The rent went up for the whole complex apparently. I've got last months paid have to still pay this month and then brace for the $50 increase for April.

Still looking at properties all up and down the West coast and prices/quality vary widely as would be expected. The last one that I posted.. still on my list. The one at Clear Lake Oaks is pending so had to take that one off my list. Sniff. That property had the largest land of anything I've seen other than ones that were out in the  middle of an acre of land in the  middle of F-ing nowhere Oregon or Washington. It had solar panels with a back up battery too! SIGH
I actually started to look back down in California and knowing the weather patterns here still stayed close to the coast unless it was on the other side of Sacramento.

One thing I did notice of course is the number of homes that are being flipped. How can you tell? Well the one I previously posted with the pristine interior and crap exterior. Another pointer is looking at when it sold, price and when it resold. I saw one that originally sold December of last year for only $90,000. A month later it was back on the market, the price practically doubled and the interior was brand new. As a result it was valuated at double the amount jacking up the taxes as well.

I looked at a couple of homes in Oregon, one close to the northern border and I mean you cross the bridge over the river and you're in Washington where the larger town was, and another that was just about in the  middle of the state but a little west. Both of them were miles (more than 30) from anything approaching a city/town that had known brand stores.

I actually discovered one mobile home in the same neighborhood of San Jose that I lived in when I was married. Talk about an area that's 'grown'. There's a Lowe's where the Orchard Supply Hardware store was that I worked at briefly and of course my memory is a bit faulty about what else was there but I do remember that.
Meanwhile back to house hunting.
Going to have to give it up for a bit and wait for more to come on the market since I've seen everything that's in my budget everywhere I want to live. Sure there are some new ones being built but very few and by the time we're ready they'll be gone so just going to give it a rest for now and focus on getting our current situation moving in the right direction.

So amid all this I needed to do something for Valentines day for me and Jon. Local HL was calling me and so was the sandwich shop. If you can't treat yourself once in a while are you even living?

Their wall decor was on sale. What can I say? We're running out of room though, Jon took down his tribute picture he found at a Goodwill (the diner one with Marilyn Monroe and several others of that era) and put this up behind the front door. I told him it was okay to take down the Egyptian stuff on the opposite side and when I heard him pounding on the wall went out and he was putting this up.
We need more room(s). A room for his stuff a room for our Star Wars stuff and a room for my craft stuff, a garage for him to put his tools and tinkering stuff and our bedroom. Oh yeah and at least a screened porch of some sort for Rocky.
Sigh.
