Katie called to catch up the other day and we chatted for over an hour, I related things that have been happening with finances and the garden and it came down to her wanting to give us belated Christmas/Lunar New Years presents. She offered to buy me soil and whatever else I needed for my garden and after I hung up I decided to tell her that I really needed about $85 for my internet and money to get my car registered. She said, done deal in addition to getting my soil and anything else I might need.
She has been my soul friend since we first met and we have helped each other when we had the means every time we could and been a shoulder to cry on, swift kick in the rear when needed. I also had mentioned on the phone call when we were talking about our cats that Rocky had broken one of Jon's consoles and he never got a chance to play on it. She offered to pay for a new one as well. Let me tell you he was close to tears hearing her say that she would put up the money for it. She is such a generous soul and am thankful she came into my life even when we were down in the dumps.
Well, as the day closed out, we got my soil, cheesecake, she gave me a good chunk of money to get my car taken care of and paid for Jon's new XBox whatever, she turned down warranty insurance because it said it was through State Farm insurance. We all thought that was odd. Turns out though that this morning she got a refund for the console and when she messaged the seller it just said he canceled the order. Jon has dealt with this before and he messaged ebay about it.
Turns out that there may be an issue with the console it was only played on three times and in excellent condition but since she refused the 'insurance' if there was anything wrong with the item it would be on the seller to reimburse or get a new unit. Otherwise SOL for the buy since they bought insurance for it. So kind of a sketchy deal there and I think we dodged a bullet on that. Jon told me to tell her to not worry about it not a big deal (even though I thought it was a big deal for him) and she said she'd try and drop by some money for us instead. She and her husband are going to Vietnam in May (where her husband is from) to visit and see (and stay with) some of his relatives. They're saving up money for that so having her drop her work bonus money on us like this is even more a sign she is an angel and has earned her wings many times over.
So other than that, some bills will be paid the weather is gusty winds and rainy for the next few days but wonderful winter/spring weather for us. Hoping to get my smog and registration taken care of before the end of the month or the cost goes up more. If nothing else comes out of my account I have enough to cover that.
I get paid on the 8th this month and next, EBT is extended for February and March and that's it for that money. We'll see what happens after that but for now, we're treading water with a little more buoyancy.
