Speaking of eating. We're likely going to be using more free senior meals and not a whole lot of fresh food anymore. I got a notice that due to SS raising our monthly income they are dropping my $106 monthly EBT to $23. Because combined our income is now just over $27k a year.
So absolutely no way can we afford going anywhere for lunch other than home, going to start learning how to make more things from scratch and try to grow more vegetables in my measly garden. Only thing I can't grow is meat. The local food distribution locations are either all vegetables or the one with wider variety is at a time and place that is not convenient for us at the moment. We stocked up on some meat this month, I have about $123 left in the EBT account. That has to stretch until next month and then...whoooopeeee... it will be 146. IF we don't spend any of that for the rest of the month.
This deal keeps getting worse and worse.
Only way I can see getting more money from the county is to update my situation to not fixing food together and he only contributes to rent. Then he can try to file for EBT and state the same thing. I just went through the form and there was no where to do that. I would have to contact someone by email or phone and explain the situation.
This is why seniors end up at food kitchens and not eating properly. We can't afford to survive on 'retirement'.
Only good news is Logan (previously called Ava) works at the local Civic theater that has Broadway productions on rotation. Amber messaged me and asked if I wanted two tickets to see Riverdance. My immediate answer was,'WHAT? WHEN AND WHERE?'. Yes in all caps. She called me and explained that Logan gets 2 free tickets (any seating in the theater) for all productions. She's not interested in that so asked Amber to ask if I was interested. So the tickets were either for Tuesday or Wednesday this week at 7pm downtown at the Civic theater. I have to pick up the boys on Tuesday so Wednesday, she asked what seats I wanted, there were orchestra level seats available and I said YES. Just looked at the seating chart and we're not that close, good distance and slightly to the side, orchestra is a big section so we'll be close enough.
I watched the original Riverdance back when it was out on tv and DVD, so the original cast isn't there but the music will be the same, maybe slightly different but it's still Riverdance and amazing!
Luckily don't need anything fancy for clothing, we'll be taking the trolley there from a nearby station. About an hour travel time each way on the trolley. We have to use a different station than we did for Comicon because we're taking a different trolley line to get there that drops us within a block of the theater. Taking the trolley is cheaper than parking and less hassle for sure.
So anyway... that's about it for this month. More figuring out how to survive on pennies and nickles. Literally.
