I was not watching carefully and took a misstep in the garden near the sidewalk. Twisted my right ankle, again for the fourth time. Fell to the left and landed on my knee trying not to crash into the tree scraped and bruised my left knee, 'scraped' my right palm in two places (impacted gravel?). This happened Saturday around 3 pm. At least I didn't fall on my left hand/arm again and risk a break. This is not something I would call an ambulance for that would cost me $250 plus $90 for the ER. Urgent care is only $30.
I knew my foot was damaged when I heard tearing centered under and a little forward of my ankle as it twisted. I actually cussed twice as I fell and when I righted myself. I am thankful I had my phone with me because there wasn't anyone around in earshot. Jon came down and me being 216 lbs, I still had to shift my position off the sidewalk and try to stand up. I had just turned the water on the hose to water the beds too. I 'had' to finish doing that. So I told him where the rice pack was and if he could go put it in the freezer while I finished the watering and putting the hose away.
Yeah. Gorgeous day out yesterday and today and I'm stuck inside keeping my legs elevated sitting on my bed. Amber was willing to call an uber for me to get to the urgent care (she had work) but then I discovered it's closed on the weekend. I don't think I'm going to be able to drive the boys this week unfortunately as it involves going down the stairs and I can barely hobble around the short distances in the apartment. Don't have a walking stick or cane or anything. I have the OTC money to buy one at least but .... no way to get to the pharmacy to do that.
So I'm laid up for a few days at least. Luckily all the grocery shopping is done for now, but we're broke in that area too. Jon is helping best he can, checking in on me and asking how I feel. No real dinner today because I forgot to take something out of the freezer. Will have something with hamburger maybe tomorrow. Standing and cooking at the stove is not an option right now and giving him detailed instructions on how to cook a meal is taxing. I guess now is a good time to start teaching him how to cook for when I get my eye surgery (crossing fingers).
Let's see, the last three times I sprained that ankle...first time was in 6th grade, jumping off a roof into an ivy patch with pillows on a dare. Second was in college running back to class after needing to make a copy of an assignment and foot hit a gopher hole. Third time was doing some yard work for money, client's dog got out and when I finally got him back in the yard, foot caught a gopher hole again. I don't remember if I went to the doctor the first time but I know the other times it was ace bandage and hobble around. This time I want to see a doctor and make sure it gets wrapped properly and x-ray done just in case, being much older now. With the tearing sound I heard, who knows if it's broken or not.
Dangit, just realized my glasses will be ready this coming week. Shoot.... will have to figure out how to get that taken care of when it happens. At least the birds are singing, the breeze is blowing and the sun is shining. The tank is clean......
