And of course spoke too soon.

I guess I really did jinx myself talking about old people on restricted diets.  NP called this morning about two of the tests that came back already. Not cancer but very likely IBD, or Ulcerative Colitis aka Crohn's disease. Not the end of the world but they would need to do a colonoscopy to have a definite diagnosis.  UGH. Honestly, compared to my current bowel movements it wouldn't feel any different.

Yep it's that kind of reaction. Crohn's is an auto immune disease, not really anything I did over the years, sometimes it's genetic which I would have no idea because no one would talk about stuff like that back in the 60's and 70's. Not sure they could even do a genetic marker test for that either. So treatment is medication, low fiber diet and stuff like that, except what is left out. Fatty, spicy foods, caffeine and high fiber foods. Which actually tracks with what has happened after having a big Mexican meal or any big meal for that matter. So smaller meals through the day and staying hydrated, watching what I eat, keep a journal, all that stuff.

SIGH. Getting old sucks.  I suspect this started coming on about ten or twelve years ago but chalked it up to not having a gall bladder.  Will be talking with my primary doctor tomorrow and probably order the colonoscopy prep. I really don't want it to happen around Christmas but may not have a choice.  The issue is transportation there and back again (wherever and whenever that may be).

So no more sodas, limit spicy high fat foods, eat small meals through the day rather than a big meal. So you know what I'm having today? Chicken thighs baked in the oven marinated in Italian dressing and home made salsa. Yep. Because that's what I had planned before I got the call. Chicken breasts would have been better but that's what I pulled out.

I figured there was something serious going on when the Imodium didn't help and neither did limiting my foods, not to mention going on constantly for more than a month. I had hopes it was the meds but just my luck it's more complicated than that.

This is sucky but in the long run I am so glad we have the medical care we do.
