Needless to say I got a new phone but only after 5 hours of confusion, running back and forth from store to home for various passwords and then my laptop. All because my phone was non-functional. I had to pay for a new phone and had to get a new number. It was inevitable. I had that number for over 30 years since Cricket bought up ATT phone service.
Before the long tale starts: I am feeling stronger every day, eating more actual food which is delicious again. Was able to get Jersey Mikes last night as a reward for our suffering and ate my usual 3 inch section but also had a tuna sandwich split into two different snacks the tuna did not set well in my stomach. So getting food for sure, hopefully tomorrow will be able to fix some chicken of some sort. Had apples and yogurt for breakfast with a small piece of well cooked bacon. Fried an egg because I had the idea of having an egg on toast for breakfast but saved that aside for a sandwich later. So food is happening at a slower pace but more than a nibble here or there. Pulse and oxygen are strong and steady. Yay for feeling better!
So I go in, still not feeling up to snuff, sweating like a yak and was finally approached by Miguel (who just had walked in to start his shift at noon remember that time stamp) after helping another couple ahead of us for maybe 15 minutes. Explained the situation and I wanted to see if he could resuscitate my phone. When he turned it over, the grimace said it all, my phone was ancient in their books and because there was no way of accessing it (which I explained twice but he tried to anyway of course) there was no way of doing anything but get a new phone.
We came back home, I messaged Devon and CJ but of course it being a Saturday everyone was busy, I finally told Amber what was going on and I only needed $150. She luckily could spare that much. I won't go into the gory details but I needed my google/gmail password which I had forgotten was reset at the beginning of last year, but that wasn't the password that was needed,d it was an older password from 2020 for some unknown reason. Then he needed one last step to finalize my account but I didn't have that so at this point it's been 3 hours and I've already gone home and back twice.I was frustrated, sweating, energy was draining and he said if I had the information on a tablet or other device (2 factor authorization is what he needed) so since he had to get lunch (remember he came in at noon) and it was now after 4 we went home, I packed up my laptop and tried to relax a bit then it was after 5 and we headed back again.
Miguel (as usual with those stores in off peak hours) was the only one there and he was helping two other customers ahead of us but they were only paying their bill. So got the laptop out, he piddled around with it a while, checked on another pad back and forth a bit and finally was ready to put the new case on my phone. He told us rather proudly I think that he loaded HBO Max for free and I told him I don't watch movies on my phone, he insisted it was free... and it was on there anyway. He was very helpful, not a problem with his knowledge (other than him being off for a week and was still catching up on price changes). Finally got it in my hand, spiffy new lavender colored case and off we went. This is one of the newest phones I've ever had. 2025 model Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. Miguel got a lower price on my case and a glass screen cover by about half the cost and same with the phone. I was notified by cricket about a survey for the service we got and gave a good review of course because all the problems were on my end and not his.
Contacts at least were through google which was one of the things he was trying to sync so thankful for that. But then an entire page of games I don't need or use. Then there's the ever annoying and always frustrating getting apps back in order. Which means things like facebook needed me to be at the computer to find the last known password and get that loaded up. Allll the things. It was really exhausting and frustrating.
I tried to go on the cricket website but since this is a new number and phone, I likely have to contact customer service because I got a temporary username and used the new phone number but it encountered an 'error on the site'. SIGH!!!! Why is it always SO difficult!???
So I think I messaged a few people who read this and sent my new number but through messenger (not phone messages) on FB because that didn't change. If you want my new number contact me through that because I won't put my phone number on this blog for possible public perusal.
I got a lot of 'exercise' yesterday and today I actually got out to the garden! Yay! It desperately needed watering, despite the rain last week or the weekend before that. Anyway. I have tons of cilantro and green onions. No idea what to do with the cilantro, shouldn't have cut so much but will figure out how to dry it maybe.
Now off for more website shenanigans and changing and all that.
