When things don't happen...

I don't write much.
Just been plugging along, going to work, wondering when my mouth will be completely healed, trying to design some new jewelry, knitting....
No real observations or epiphanies lately. I do have to start getting stuff together for the convention I am selling at next February. It seems a long way off but between now and then a lot will be happening.
Disneyland for Ava's and my birthday (Oct 11...wooo! More on that later), surgery, Halloween, Christmas, New Years, and then the babies being born and then the convention. But I have to plan my table set up, get the items organized, priced and packed.
On that Disneyland trip, since about four years ago when a friend who lives about fifteen minutes from there offered to treat me to Disneyland for my b-day I have tried to get up there once a year. Last year I went with Ava and Devon which was great and we had a fantastic time! The same plan is for this year since her b-day is on a Tuesday that works out much better. Disneyland is for kids, I grew up going there almost two or three times a year and have a lot of fond memories of it. I want to do the same for Ava. I have some wonderful pictures from last time and want to take some more special ones to create a slide show of our experience. Since I have a AAA card that gets me discounts on all kinds of stuff like Amtrak. The plan this year is to take the train which will add another experience to her trip. I would have included Amber but that is the next ultrasound appointment for her so she really needs to stay home. She can use my car besides while we're gone.
So anyway... like I said, not much happening lately. I need to go grocery shopping and pick up my car reg. tags from AAA and then to go work today. That is a wonderful convenience to have that option. Paid for the tags online, wait four days and then it's in the system and I don't have to stand in line. DMV was closed both last Friday and Monday so it took an extra two days for the payment to clear. Annoying but understandable.

Looks like it's going to be cloudy and possibly rainy in the next few days. The weather is all screwed up lately. We had summer here for about two weeks and that was it. I don't think the Santa Ana's are going to happen this month either, they have slowly moved into October same with the 'June Gloom' that happens has spread over May and July a bit. It was overcast and grey at the coast on July 4!!! What's up with that!
Well, such is life on the big blue marble.

Oh a note on the entertainment front... I am a big fan of J. Michael Straczynski as most of you know, he is a wonderfully talented man and now is running with the big dogs in Hollywood.  His latest endeavor is writing the script for the new Thor movie that is in production. Kenneth Branagh is directing!!! And JMS got some screen time in the movie!  That is a big change from when he was struggling with producing Babylon 5, a small blip on the SF horizon that made a big impact in some lives. Now... he wrote the script for Changeling with Angelina Jolie and now, his comic book love has come to the big screen.
Being involved in B5 for so long and reading his columns and thoughts, seeing him speak at conventions ... this feels like 'our boy has grown up..he's done good'. Kind of like a proud parent or aunt seeing him succeed. I'm just a fan but it still feels good to see him get recognition. (Oh there's a YouTube video of his small bit and some of the production of Thor.)

Okay time for breakfast, then head out for the day and trundle along the path forward.
And on that note:

"I'm an idealist. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way."
  Carl Sandburg.

Didn't they use that quote in a song?
