Right, the rest of Friday. (It's Monday now.. so much for keeping up on this.)
I still don't have the pictures Devon took of the glass museum but I hope I have the ones from the sci fi museum.
So we get to the museum and it's cold and wet, but not too bad. The exterior of the building is incredible in itself.

We actually entered from the back side of the building which we didn't discover until we drove off. Oh well it was still awesome.
Then we get inside and it immediately shows that this really is the Experience Music Project Museum.
Those are all full size instruments suspended from the cables and whatever else to hold on to them. After taking pictures and picking my jaw up off the floor I had to get a picture of the display case next to it.
I'm not a huge Boba/Jango Fett fan but they are costumes and still awesome to look at. What is amazing about this place was the range of different 'geek' type stuff all in one spot. You have music, movies and video games, those white blocks in the background are over the entrance to the Indie Video Game development display. It was meh, Devon wasn't even impressed with it since they weren't commonly known games. We did stop and watch the video on the history of video games, more like a timeline slide show but still interesting.
We stopped at one of the shops and surprisingly, the prices weren't too bad for being in a 'museum'. I bought a pair of blue lightsaber earrings and got both Devon and I Star Wars T-shirts. Yeah, cause we're geeky like that. Why else would we be there? It was time to go see the Star Wars exhibit then and we headed in that direction. A museum 'docent' (?) was standing near an doorway and said he could scan our tickets for us and go through the door. Sweet!
This is what the stairway looked like going up to that level (taken from the top looking down) those blue lights are ... lightsaber blades attached to the conduit type pipes.
Looks kind of like Yoda right? Well it is, this was the stand in puppet for scene rehearsals for Return of the Jedi.
I'm not going to post every single picture I took of the rest of the costumes, leave it to say they are astounding in the details. There was a display of C3P0 and R2 with a recording of Anthony Daniels describing how he got the part of 'Goldenrod' and his whole thought process. There was also a video likely seen on the extras of the prequels about how the costumes were made and the whole process of art to actual product
Some of the artwork on this display should be very familiar but it's still fascinating to see the evolution of the concept and creation of the characters.
Now jumping forward to today, long story short, my phone inexplicably died. We found a Cricket store near where we were and they said to file a claim at a website before 10 pm and I could have a new one mailed to me the next day. Sweet! Wrong. First it's less than a year old so I have to call the customer service number or go in person to a store to get a new one. Second, it's 10 pm CST. By the time we got home it was after 7pm our time. I will still call on Devon's phone to see whether I can get a new one at a store up here, or have to wait until we get home. I got a camera to take pictures at least but failed to remember to pick up an SD card for it. DOH! AND I put the battery in backward so all the time we were driving around it wasn't even charging.
Electronics gremlins were hard at work making me look like an idiot today.
So, more on the Friday adventures on the next post. I may be caught up by the time I get home. Then again.. let's not push my luck shall we?
