I has all the moneys!

I could have sworn I entered the info and filled the boxes to get the 401k account to send me the money by direct deposit but they sent me a check instead. That got here yesterday (Monday) and because I can only deposit up to $5000 a day (check was for over $6k) I had to run it to the bank at 3:30 when we checked the mail. I also got my new EDD card finally the same day but then.... it wouldn't let me activate it as per the instructions. After getting home from teh bank and buying two bottles each of Simply Lemon and Limeade (on sale!) and a box of Outshine lime popsicles, (not on sale but score!) I decided to just call the bank number and after about a half hour dealing with that my card was finally activated. Juheezus!

I paid my SDGE bill that was over $200 and will call the mechanics tomorrow to see about getting my car taken in to fix the AC. Looking at my last credit card account that has $1749 on it and trying to decide to pay it down, pay it off and when to do that after I get the car fixed or before. Sigh. Also need to save some money for rent and other things. Definitely want to fix that so I can work on getting my credit back up again.

I got an email from the internet provider (Cox) saying my 'introductory' offer was at an end and here's some alternative offers. Well the cheapest one actually was about five dollars more than what we're paying now and it's the same service plus basic tv channels so won't need an external antenna. Score!

Other than that, it's hot as blazes here now that it's officially summer. Got up to 100 today after we finished running errands thankfully. We have to do our outside errands before about 11 and sometimes earlier. It got up to 93 by 1pm and we wanted some Chili's chips and salsa. I left Jon at home and went out to get that because honestly it's not like decisions needed to be made. He was whipped and if he hadn't suggested it was going to.

So when I get my car fixed the same thing will happen. Going to leave him home and go do it so he can stay home in relative comfort instead of hanging out with me at Amber's. She offered to be my taxi for the day when it's in the shop. The only other option was to rent a car and yes I have the money but I'd rather not spend it and it's more of a hassle to rent a car locally for a day.

We've been in the apartment for a year and it's gone by rather fast as it usually does. I've started a small garden bed on the other side of the complex and have a tomato and pepper plant started. Things are getting back to normal for socializing at least. Complex got some food donations from some food bank which we appreciate the extra but it was mostly expired food from Trader Joe's and by expired I mean a package of English peas that started to sprout (if it were cooler I would have planted them), two wedges of different cheese that looked inedible, a salad bowl of some sort that was three days past prime and another one with mushrooms in it that... yeah.... Luckily the hot italian sausage was frozen, there were some apples that are okay and some potatoes and apricots. Apricots went soft two days after but the potatoes (small yellow) are still good and will be used soon.

I do appreciate having a little extra foods but .. had to throw out almost all of it.That's not good. I am thankful for being in a complex we can afford and for the most part it's quiet. Though having neighbors older than us by a bit can be a bit... frustrating? Sad? Jon went out to check the mail and the patio table (shaded) with random stuff on it had two cartons of egg substitute or something that said, 'keep refrigerated'. On the table in 85 degree heat. People put old pots, tupperware, clothing, books, whatever they don't want, but really? Refrigerated food? One lady that sees Jon at least once a week going for the mail has asked twice now, 'do you need some help finding someone? Do you live here?'  One wonders how they remember to pay the rent.

So one year down and who knows how many more. As much as we hate the weather in the summer, it's what we can afford right now and likely for some time. Jon and I have to go through the SS website and see how much we could collect right now. He's tired of dealing with trying to find a job and frankly, as I've said, so am I. The extras on unemployment are going to end pretty soon and that puts us in a bind financially again. Wait and see is all we can do.

That's the update for now. Devon is still in Alaska, Amber and her crew are getting ready to move to a newer place that is cheaper and bigger than what they have now. Kiri... Krys is going through the process for transitioning. I don't know how I feel about that having given birth to her, not against it just.... have to process it for a while.

There you have it all the news that's fit to print.

My two wonderful guys napping.
