An exchange and upgraded computer and stuff.

Just some pretty waterlilies from Balboa Park

So I realized that once again I bought something because I liked the color and style rather than what I actually needed. Before the 15 day return window closed I took back the pretty rose gold macboook air and got the Macbook Pro in grey that I should have gotten in the first place. It is soooo much better! It cost an extra $483 but is well worth it to last for another five or six years.

I couldn't understand why the fonts were smaller, my eyesight is not getting any better but this was rediculous and it didn't have the memory that it should have. Jon convinced me that we should just return it and get the pro version. So that's done, and in retrospect it came in either silver or 'space grey' and I told him it didn't really matter. Well dangit should have said silver because the keys almost blend in with the space grey but meh. There are laptop sticker covers I can get to fit both the keyboard and the exterior cover that will spark things up a bit.

Last thing on the list is getting a new key for the car. The key fob and key are integrated sooo it is not cheap by any means. Most expensive quote was $150, cheapest was buy it from Amazon as a blank for $50 but haven't checked to see how much it would cost to cut a blank. I can pair it myself, just needs sitting in the car for about ten minutes to program it. If it were just the battery it would have been done by now but since the tiny screw is rusted tight can't do it. (Sorry if I covered this already it's been a slow week). The driver's side mirror is jiggly and when Jon looked at it he saw there was a screw missing on the bottom of the housing and someone had just jammed a piece of cardboard to hold it. So you know how hard it is to just find out what type of screw is needed in that specific spot? Chilton's online here I come, and not so fast have to pay to get access to it online. Right, might as well just go look at it at the auto store. A little more looking around and it is sooo specific I have to go look at the actual manual because all the instructions online are for replacing the entire mirror or the motor or the switch. Sigh. I just need a freaking screw/bolt folks!

Between the car and the computers my retirement disbursement is pretty much burned through. But they were needful items and we are okay for rent this month. With both Jon and I getting unemployment we can cover expenses and groceries, we have enough in the fridge and freezer for cooking almost anything and it's too hot to cook in the afternoon. Restarting my etsy account hasn't gotten me anything other than a few dollars taken out of my account every month. Garden blog is read by about six people, all of them are friends and family. Tempted to monetize it but then do you ever click on ads that show up on a blog?  Me neither.

So anyway, not much else other than it's a lot more pleasant driving around now and when I ask Jon if we can take a side trip to the store he says 'sure!' instead of 'I'm okay'. Biig difference. If it weren't so blasted hot we'd go more places but for now just shopping is fine. Not sure what we're doing for 4th of July with Amber and the kids. Fireworks are okay this year luckily but it depends on whether they'll be bbqing or what. The complex has a gas bbq but that is soo dirty Jon refuses to eat anything off it and I don't blame him. I'm going to have to go down and take a better look at it and see if I can clean it better than the last guy.

I was supposed to meet Amber and the boys at Balboa Park just to walk around but she got super busy at the last minute so I just went by myself and walked around. Rose garden was in full bloom, water lilies were out and I just took a bunch of pictures of all the plants for my garden blog. Wonderful day, was kind of high overcast and breezy so not too hot at all luckily. Jon could have even managed it but frankly, he's not as much interested in plants as I am so why drag him around? It was a lovely day though and gives me plenty of topics to post on either page or blog.

That's it, going to go look for some laptop skins and have a fruit juice on the veranda. Nah too hot.
