Thanks to Katie who finished her breast cancer treatment yesterday, she took me out to the store and bought groceries we were missing. We have meat and veggies for several meals and canned goods stocked up. I also picked up some leftovers from the monthly extra food donation from Trader Joes. A few nectarines, a head of lettuce and more spaghetti.
Now the bad news. Due to missing a tooth in front it's difficult for me to eat fresh fruit out of hand. Nectarines do not divide as easy as an apple or orange and in my effort to try and eat one, the pit scratched my gums and inside my lip. I am now swollen and fear it's infected. I don't have dental coverage. So right now am treating it with swabs of Listerine in the area and swishing bottled water in my mouth. I was not feeling too good and the symptoms all pointed to running a fever... got the thermometer and sure enough, 99.6 which is just elevated enough to make me feel edgy.
Sigh. If it's not one thing or another. Luckily Alleve doesn't bother my stomach anymore so had a sandwich this morning and took two of them. Not helping much but can only imagine what I would feel like if I hadn't taken it.
I'm going to try and reapply to MediCal next week and hope for better results. I don't have dental because they were sending me late notices and not due notices and as small as the amount was, still didn't have the money to cover it.
So anyway, feeling slightly achy, it's almost 90 outside and definitely that much inside so we've got the AC and fans going. That's another thing I haven't paid is SDGE for two months and backlog is 400 something. So no extra money from CalFresh it seems, unless by some miracle it happens next week or so. We'll be short on rent again this month, but I think as long as we're paying something they will keep going. Hopefully. I'm looking at other options for money but, just don't know what else to do at this point.
But have a rainbow anyway.
