So we had an absolute blast at the con and were able to be there all four days. Didn't buy a thing but thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, pointing out artwork and models and all that to each other. Our game panel on Saturday was okay. Not many people showed up and Jon says he had an absolute blast helping out. So much cool stuff that we would want to decorate our home (haha) with but just took pictures and soaked up the creativity people have.
The sign carrying guy was there all weekend walking around and it was the first thing we saw getting off the trolley. It was a wonderful thing that I know boosted a lot of people seeing it. The Felix picture has an interesting story. The artist goes by the name of 'Risk' and when Covid shut things down he couldn't get supplies of course. So he had tons of just brown paper laying around and decided to weave it together to make his canvases. The butterfly is his 'signature' animal and includes it on everything he does. That 'canvas' is about 2'x4' and is airbrushed.
What can I say about the 'Rainbow-lorians'? Just a hoot and a half with creativity.
And more incredible art, that top banner was for sale in various sizes and covered the entire Star Wars timeline. I've got the booth info which is all they had but had his name which I can't remember. Incredible art in everything geek, just great to see.
Just so, so much fun to see everything. It was crowded but not as bad as it has been in years past apparently. Everyone minded their manners for the most part and I felt guilty not being able to be truly interested in what people were selling and get even a small thing. My friend is planning on doing the panel or something like it again next year so fates be kind and favor us for the next year we'll be able to do it again.
This last picture is special to me. Decades ago when Kiri (Krys) was about 10 she wanted to be a 'Space Alien Kitty'. We got her tights, some sliver something on her arms cat ear head band and I made a tale. I think a belt was involved as well so she looked like what she wanted. This person just reminded me so much of that costume, just as homemade and great.
Oh and the Buzz Lightyear movie is a hoot! We were able to get into the special screening of it today and it was so worth it. My friend was going to take us to dinner after we saw the movie but she had to apologize that her asthma had kicked up last night and was going to stay in her room. She still wanted to pay for our dinner and sent me $75 on paypal. We took that and went to Rubio's for dinner and because my bank card didn't work for some strange reason, had to use that to get some water and sodas before coming home.
So it was a great weekend, we parked at a trolley station about ten minutes from home and took a 40 minute ride to the convention center. That's the only expense we made and well worth it as long as we got on the trolley before 4 (which we failed to do on Saturday and were sandwiched a good portion of the ride).
A fun time was had by all and have pictures to prove it. Will post other pictures on fb because some of the pictures are pertinent to some of my friends.
Oh and unbeknownst to me, ebt money deposited about 1:30 today or at least that's when I got the email but by that time I was watching a movie. We can go grocery shopping tomorrow at least.
