It is again hotter than comfortable, won't be cooling down until the weekend
Appointment check in was at 3:30 on Tuesday. We got what food we could in the kitchen for breakfast because bus time was around 1. I grabbed my umbrella for sun protection but forgot my water bottle, made sure to have my knitting of course.
I had asked Jon three separate times if he was sure he'd be okay traveling in the heat and he said he would consider a few days before then I asked again the morning of the appointment and he said yes. I know it make him exceedingly tired and edgy. This time though I'm kind of glad and not that he came along.
We got to the last bus stop where we transfer to Lyft and I think I left my umbrella in the bathroom. Will be asking at the desk on Friday if someone turned it in. I also had scheduled about fifteen minutes more in advance than we needed so we got to the doctor way early but at least we were sitting in a quiet air conditioned office.
Appointment was simple, quick all that, nothing unusual and ordered ride when we got outside. I now know to put in the name of the building because it is now 9 out of 10 times even with the correct number address, gps sends the driver across the street. Because they can't f-ing read addresses.
I had the driver drop us off at In N Out so we could get some food and then walked to the bus stop. A small group was on the corner representing a protest against the current regime and the traitor in the White House. We gave them a thumbs up and thank you as we walked by.
So the excitement happened on the way home. Taking the trolley, there are numerous interesting people. One black guy, rolled his large electric bike into the car we sat in. I made the mistake of making eye contact and the slight smirk as he rolled his back to the door behind him should have been a sign. I tapped on the front wheel and told him not to lean against the door. Smirk again and then he turned on his boom box. Well let's just say he got off at the soonest stop when we pushed the emergency call button. He rolled off then as I sat back down he said, 'yah you go sit down, sit down there' like he was in charge. Well I stood up. He then got loud and aggressive thinking I was going to attack him. 67 year old lady with knitting in my hand... and then... Jon snapped open his knife. I tried to calm him down but he was like a rock standing next to me. His protective street dog personality was out and alert. Another passenger interrupted and told the guy to back off. And oddly enough on the landing outside, a short little Hassidic Jewish guy was trying to calm things down. A few seconds later they closed the doors and the other passenger that interceded told the guy to have a nice day through the closed doors. We all sat back down and I went back to my knitting like nothing had happened. I was tempted to look at the rest of the people and apologize but just kept my head down. Not proud of that interaction at all.
Firstly, I should have just left it alone. I knew he was confrontational but that irked me with his bike. So the entire situation could have been avoided had I kept my head down and ignored him. We stopped off at Starbucks at the end of our route near home because it was hot, I was tired and needed chocolate.
Today... I took a chance and ordered delivery from Food 4 Less because they had a coupon for free delivery if you have a purchase over $75. Bazinga! Well that didn't go exactly as planned either. I got what I ordered sort of. First, the delivery got here sooner than I expected, I didn't hear the alert that the driver texted me so he called and I sent Jon down to open the drive through gate for him. Well, he decided to follow someone else in so there was some confusion on who he was since they don't have a little sign in their car window like lyft and uber do.
Apparently the online ordering double checks for 'in store' purchase list and your delivery. So I ended up with 7 jalapenos when I only wanted 2. I didn't hit the button enough and only got 2 cases of water instead of 3 making it a little more expensive. But we got some staples we needed but still need to make another run to the store for canned goods and perishables like ice cream and butter.
In the future, I will make sure to empty all online carts and lists before starting a delivery order. I will only order when there's coupon for free delivery on large orders like that. I'm hoping that by the end of next week I may not need to do that.
I need to contact one or two mechanics today. Will update with that success when I post next.
